Mountain Side Hakuba

We were fortunate to have chosen Mountain Side Hakuba for our recent stay. The property is in a great location, literally across the street from the lifts. The overall check-in process was extremely efficient and the staff were incredibly helpful before and during our visit. We had a 3BR unit and it was clean, well stocked and simply a lovely property. The shuttle service, help with logistics and then the onsite restaurant were pleasant surprises and the Mountain Side team went out of their way to accommodate guest requests. Highly recommend this property and look forward to returning soon.

Six of us stayed in unit 502 for 7 nights and enjoyed every moment! The unit was right at the Happo one Lyft in walking distance to a pub, a restaurant, a ski shop, and an onsen. A collection of efficient and professional and friendly concierge. Staff helped us with our every need. We had a private driver with a van that seated. all of us comfortably take us to the lovely restaurants and activities. We had planned throughout the week. it was quiet at night, but easily accessible to get into town for any nightlife you want to enjoy. we would happily stay at mountainside again!

The main reason I wanted to write this review is to commend the manager who worked on the evening of October 25 for her exceptional customer service of picking up my family at Happo Bus Terminal at 7pm. Regularly scheduled shuttle service by Mountain Side ends at 5pm. Out of the goodness in her heart and a sense for doing her job with honor, the manager picked us up anyway. Without her going beyond her duty, it would have been an hour or more to locate a taxi of any sort, if that would have been even possible. She also helped us settle in comfortably and find a restaurant when every place closes early. We are very very grateful for what she did for us. The 3-bedroom condo was quite clean, spacious, and comfortable for our family of five. There is no hesitation for us to return to this facility. I would get a rental car for Hakuba in general however as things are fairly spread out even though town is not big.

The location, quality of accommodation and hospitality is impeccable ! We are returning next year ! Colours of autumn are beautiful and accessible to all the key locations including the rope ways , restaurants and amenities within a 15 min drive or short walk !

The best ski accommodation I’ve stayed in. Very friendly and helpful staff and well appointed. Over the road from chairlift. Restaurant next door. Apartments are modern with fantastic views of the slopes. The free shuttle service to take you around makes everything easy

There's no shortage of accommodation at Hukuba. However you will struggle to find any as new, modern, and luxurious as Mountain Side. The apartment was huge, comfortable heating/cooling, great Wifi, and well equipped. I was even impressed with the TV having Apple TV functionality so I can stream tv/movies from my apple devices. The view is amazing, you felt like you were in a secluded mountain resort! The staff were very friendly, spoke good English, and always happy to accommodate our needs, including dropping us off into the town or one of the ski lifts. There is a dry room on the bottom floor for all of our ski gear. If you're planning on going up Happo-One, there is a chair lift literally across the road. We used Rhythm Ski Hire which is a 5min walk away to rent our gear. For a door-to-ski accommodation, this is bang on. Unfortunately, as we travelled for Spring Skiing, almost everyone was shut for the season, including most restaurants (in and around Mountain Side) and shuttle services. We struggled to find restaurants walking distance away, having to resort to catching a taxi to/from the accommodation to eat at night. The Happo-One chair lift opposite the accommodation was also done for the season, with the only option to be dropped off at the Happo-One Gondola or Hakuba 47 Gondola and then catching a taxi back. I'd recommend hiring a car if you plan on visiting outside of the winter season. Saying all that, I would definitely be back, now knowing we'd need to be better prepared for the limited services around Mountain Side.
