Dukes Slickrock Campground & RV Park

Just spent 3 nights here in one of their delightful cabins. They are a perfect size for 2 people. There is a table and 2 chairs inside and a covered porch with a table and chairs. The inside is perfectly clean and the bed and pillows are wonderful. Only suggestion: more hooks for clothes are needed...especially in the bathroom.

This is our second time here and I’m glad we came back because the Mars Research Station nearby is hosting a rover contest and over 600 college students from around the world were here competing with their models which we got to watch and interact with them. The owners keep improving the park. They’ve added a great grass area up front for dogs, new graded-land for additional cabins and neater looking all around.

We booked two rooms at Dukes and when we arrived and got to our room, we walked in on an occupied space! They provided a key to a room that was already taken and then ended up switching. Luckily there were no problems when we walked in on the people in the first room. We booked three nights that were clearly shown on our booking as paid for, but after the first two nights, the receptionist called us and left a voicemail indicating that we only had reserved two nights and our credit card had been charged almost $300. I attempted to correct the situation with the receptionist by showing her the reservation email as we did not have anywhere else to stay and after much argument was able to resolve the problem. I was told to call the manager next week to talk about a refund. Terrible experience and bad booking system. I'll pass on this place and instead stay across the street at the far superior Whispering Sands.

Duke's had a nice area for tents, Plenty of room to stake tents down. Fire rings, and a little camp store. The manager was super nice and a great help. Firewood is available as well. The bathroom was a little run down, in the men's side one of the showers was out of commission. We woke up to the "City" spraying for ticks or something. A big truck spaying chemicals drove through the campground after 10 PM! I won't stay here again - I don't want to camp in a place that is spaying chemicals around me while I'm in my tent! They has a nice little restaurant as well which was convenient but the prices were way too high. Personally, I'd not pick this place again for food. Nice people but the chemicals and overpriced food are a turn-off for us.

Although they say “accepts big rigs,” this campground is NOT big-rig-friendly. We have a 44’ class A motorhome. Were told they had only 1 site that would accommodate a rig of our size. ALL their pull-throughs are for rigs “no longer than 35 feet.” So we took one of the larger back-in sites in the back of the campground. The back-in sites were all in a low-lying dirt area, with virtually no gravel. On our arrival day, all was dry. We figured the site would be dusty, but it would work. Heavy rain our first day turned our campsite and most of the other back-in sites into water-front properties. The dirt sites became deep, sticky mud pits. My tow vehicle is a lifted 4x4 Jeep Wrangler with oversized tires. I had to put it onto 4WD just to get out of my campsite. The motorhome was surrounded by mud and standing water, and was clearly trapped. After complaining to the staff, a lot of sand was brought in by a front-end loader and a Bobcat, to fill the “lake” in front of our RV. But there was still mud and standing water in many other places throughout the back-in section of the park (where they put the larger rigs). I was not even sure we would be able to get through all the new deep sand that was brought in, since no fill dirt or gravel was put on top of it. I saw another class A try to back into another of the sites. His rear tires dug deep ruts in the muck and coated his tires with the sticky muck. This campground needs some water-drainage engineering done, or at the VERY least, have MANY tons of gravel brought in. We will not stay here again!

Stayed in Hanksville for 4 nights on our 2 week hiking trip to Utah. Stayed in Cabin #4 - cant tell you how good it was! Spotless clean - fitted with comfortable beds, a refrigerator and microwave - a coffee maker, and so nice and modern. On our second night, the ac unit began acting up, and I called the office at 8:50pm, 10 minutes before they closed - expecting a possible repair the following day. Kurt Thomas, the manager who never seemed to stop working, immediately responded with a repairman, and fixed the unit in minutes. If you want spotless clean modern units with an adjacent A+ restaurant you can walk to, this is the place to stay in the Hanksville area.

I believe there’s 2 places to stay in this town. We stayed in a cabin which was beautiful and clean. The beds were comfortable. Nice kitchenette. Good size bathroom with hot water coming out fast. Very quiet. Slept great. Loved this place and highly recommend it.

This was an overnight only so no unhooking. This park looks like most in the Southwest…. all desert with hookups for us. Some people don’t understand that grass is a luxury in the desert. We came in late so that, the next morning, we could get to Goblins State Park early. Nice greeting and friendly opening. We had one of their pull-throughs that was just fine for us. Water and power were fine. Did not use the WiFi. Nice stay and good location for Goblins.

We stayed at this RV resort in one of the cabins. The cabin was so cute and clean! Cabin 4 had an eastern facing porch with a cute table and two chairs. We stayed out til dark. Very comfortable. Check-in was smooth and Brittany was so sweet. Booking online had a bit of a hiccup, but I corresponded by email and got a reply right away. All was good after I restarted the process and tried again. I would definitely stay here again!
