Purple House Inn(Baroque Branch)

Purple Inn is located in an area called the Harbin Baroque District because it was first developed in the 1800s. Today the whole area is being restored and is a very touristy area. Seriously, a McDonald's is being set up right in front of our hotel . For our stay we found relatively cheap rooms and unlike most other rooms -- which are modern / western business style rooms -- Purple's rooms are entirely furnished in a traditional classic Chinese, lots of wood everywhere. See photos. Rooms fairly clean and heated floors were appreciated in winter. Staff helpful but can only communicate in Chinese. Lots to shop and eat in the nearby Harbin Baroque District. Taxi fare to most attractions would be fairly low because they were not far away. Just be warned that: 1. This hotel is not on Google maps 2. Is not along the main road, and inside a pedestrianised area. So if you arrive by taxi or the meteo, you have to walk to find it. 3. The directions given by trip.com for some reason only gives you the walk along the main road. So you may have to walk much further than if you know how to cut across the pedestrianised streets. Overall, quite nice if you want an accommodation that has a radically different furnishing. Price is relatively low too. Don't think any breakfast is served.

The hotel is conveniently located in the baroque Chinese district, adjacent to the metro and also close to a street for DiDi access. We stayed for a few nights. The room was spacious, clean and warm. We visited for the ice festival and it was a great reprieve from the cold!

We were stranded at guangzhou airport due to bad weather. Warm received by the counter lady after our tiring flight. Cultural design inn preserved, impressive. Worthy to try!
