The Goodwin

Great clean hotel! I loved the “homey” feeling since the room I stayed in is small and comfortable. I had a wonderful restful night. Great TV too. I had the opportunity to watch the morning mass before going to work. Also the lovely front desk receptionist Noah was very friendly and helpful.

I’m not sure who posts the reviews on this place but they are obviously lying about it. My experience was one of the worst experiences. I’ll be attaching pictures. My room looked nothing like the pictures . The one wall had curtains lol but one tiny window that didn’t open overlooking the hall to no where I didn’t see people. The other guests were aggressively rude. Not located next to anything. It’s downtown and shuts down after 5 . Hotel restaurant didn’t open until 8:00 pm.

Linda and Nicole were very nice. They were extremely helpful in their recommendations for places to eat. And they did try to help me get a fireplace room. I had requested that. Their efforts did not bear fruit but that is not a reflection on them. They were generous in their efforts. Nice hotel...nice area.

I'm echoing what a lot of others already said. Rooms and decor are beautiful. Service is subpar. We ate at the bar. You get what you pay for when it comes to the $1 oysters. They were horrendous. My young child had to use the bathroom so I told the waitress I was paying for the tab through the toast app. I guess it didn't go through right away. The front desk kept calling the room (after 10 pm!). I told her I had an emailed receipt and then I never heard back. Upon check-in, we asked for a pack and pay to be sent to our room... never happened. I can't comment on the location because we were simply staying the night to go to the UConn football game. The prices were outrageous. This is a $200-$250/night hotel, not $600!

I am so absolutely impressed with this Hotel. I was treated with such respect and professionalism. The most amazing employee I dealt with was Marysol who bent over backwards to make my stay amazing. Because of this particular employee I will only stay at the Goodwin when I travel to Hartford! Kudos to The Goodwin… good job!

Lovely stay at the Goodwin for a wedding. Hotel was clean and comfortable and staff were really helpful including booking a table st a restaurant for us. The breakfast could’ve been replenished a bit more often but we weren’t expecting anything so it was a nice touch. Only other thing is the lift broke and our floor was inaccessible by the alternative lift unless we walked up the stairs - was a bit of a struggle with a pushchair and luggage but of course these things can’t be helped. Would definitely stay again if I was in the area.

Love this old grand dame in the city. The pleasure of relaxing in a beautiful two-roomed suite was just what was called for. The thoughtful sitting room, oh that tea kettle? We immediately bought one, and Grace Farms tea? A new favorite! The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom large and luxurious. Big shout out to Marisol for her kindness and warmth. Morning muffins were delicious, and cold tea for a hot afternoon… perfection!

Cool older building but seriously lacking on the maintenance and customer service fronts. Our room safe didn’t work, the bathroom fan didn’t work, and our door lock stopped functioning partway through the trip & we got locked out (battery died, so fixable but was at bad time & resulted in us being late to our event). The elevator smelled like a dog kennel, staff not really friendly or helpful (with exception of valets who were great). Will look elsewhere next time I’m in town.

This is a fantastic hotel! The room was nice and clean. The king size bed was so comfy! The blackout curtains allowed us to sleep in and I loved the complimentary late check out (12 pm!). The staff were kind and friendly. Marysol at the front desk was great!! The checkout was quick and smooth. She even showed us a list of places we could go eat and also gave us complimentary waters (which is no common these days!). Totally recommend this place!
