Change of travel plans more than a week in advance and they still charged me for the room, changes that were out of my control

Rooms have been updated since I was here last. A few years back. Melanie on reception was very welcoming and friendly. Room was very clean and tidy. Great free parking. I’ll let you know in the morning how I slept. I asked if there any sockets near bedside table as I use a cpap machine to sleep. Melanie knew what o meant straight away. And assumed me there is. Thanks Mel. Well done.

Stayed overnight while visiting family, room was comfortable however the bathroom was not clean as there was hair and the shower had water stains on it . Was staying on ground floor and facing the car park and there was no net curtains on the window so we had to keep the curtains closed while we were staying.

We stay at this hotel 3 or 4 times a year usually as part of a two night and three day trip to the north east including a night at another TRAVELODGE. This hotel is great particularly if you get a room overlooking the marina. Sadly this time we were on the ground floor at the back in the room nearest the railway station so the new announcements are a bit intrusive but the main problem was the shower head would not stay upright and no soap in the dispenser. Mel who has been there for years was very apologetic. But it’s still a good deal

For the money you would struggle to find better value. Positive. Price. Rooms clean, wonderfully stocked tea tray, staff friendly enough, close to the station (despite some steps that might be interesting with ice around). Negatives. A reception that isn’t staffed from 1200 until 1500 which if you have an early check in isn’t convenient. Yes, you can call a number but if you have a foreign phone service it’s a pain in the rear working out what the format you need is to make the call. Those who love railways would enjoy the higher rooms on the back of the hotel. Others may find the train and station announcement noise irritating. Other. My shower provided only two types of water. Freezing or scalding. They checked and the thermostat was out and therefore I needed to change rooms. An offer to help in moving bags rather than leaving you to it might have been better service. The doors are also weighted very heavily, presumably to stop them remaining open, but some might find they need a lot of effort to open. Overall. The part time staffed reception is hardly unique, but quite why staff sit somewhere else when reception is open seems odd to me. No doubt something dreamed up by the Travelodge Management. All in all and closer to the station that other similar properties and in arguably a safer area than those in the town.

On arrival everything seemed okay however we soon discovered our bathroom hadn't been cleaned all that well. Sink and shower had dirty marks over it along with water marks ( i wiped a tissue over and it came up clean so i know not hard water marks) We reported this to reception, lady said i will go and check your room that was all that was said We were on our way out, on return our card denied us access into the building however we got that sorted. When we returned to our room it had been cleaned over in bathroom. Sadly we then discovered at bed time our 3 year old daughters pillow had alot of dark hair on it as-well as our fitted sheet! I didnt report this as i felt reception didnt welcome negative feedback and my partner doesn't like to say anything. We flipped the sheets over however it didn't really sit well with me 👎👎 We have come to the conclusion the cleaners went for a nap when they woke up didnt have time to clean bathroom 🤷🏻♀️ Pros- Room was spacious, bed was comfortable, plenty parking. 👍 Please pay more attention to detail although this place is a cheaper option it does not mean its okay to cut corners

Great hotel, reasonably priced and in a great location. Upon arrival I had no problem parking, we were greeted at reception in a polite manner. The room was very cosy & spotlessly clean throughout, actually, the bathroom was the cleanest hotel bathroom we'd ever encountered. We stayed for two midweek nights and had no problems what so ever. All in all, a very pleasant hotel experience.

Clean, warm comfy room and bathroom. Free parking. Close to Marina which has a nice strip of bars and eateries. We ate at the nearby Portofino Restaurant which was very nice and great value. We will return, because at £39.99 for room only it would be rude not to!
