Travelodge Haverhill

Lovely 3-night stay on the beautiful Suffolk/Essex border. Little dated but reasonably priced. Food available if required.

The hotel was very clean and very quiet , the room was above expectations. The staff were all brilliant , very bright and bubbly and helpfull , day or night

First off, the bed was clean. The location is handy for us when visiting family, we’ve stayed before and had no complaints, so obviously returned. This time was different. Arrived at 3.10pm, nobody turned up for 5 minutes, but then checked in ok. Fortunately we got 2 card keys, because one didn’t work. The room itself didn’t seem clean, but I think it also needed a heavy dose of maintenance. The window catch was very wobbly, so the radiator kept flashing a red ‘window open’ message. The bathroom was filthy. There was no soap in either dispenser and the one by the sink was broken anyway. The shower had grey lines all round the base, and there was something unmentionable smeared on the tiles between the toilet and the mirror. We were only there one night to attend a family party (at another location) and as we only live 1.5 hours away, we left in the morning, drove home and showered - I think I’d have felt dirtier if I’d used that bathroom. It’s cheap, and convenient, but I think I’ll shop around next time we have an overnight in Haverhill.

Stayed for a very quick trip to see family for new years, couldn’t fault anything, very friendly staff and clean rooms. Location is great, nothing was too little to ask for, great to have the option of having food and lovely to have the bar for a drink.

Arrived here on Boxing Day afternoon. Reception area & cafe was clean & tidy but no one at reception. Lady who eventually came to chef us in was very perfunctory in her greeting & info given. Room very tired. No hand soap in bathroom dispenser, sink tap not fixed in place & wobbled about when used. Flooring in bathroom very old & tatty. Didn’t look clean. Heater in room was not effective. After a couple of hours poor sleep due to the chill in the room & noise of boy racers outside we decided to get up & leave early without breakfast. Guy preparung the breakfast happened to be around as we were leaving. Very helpful & amiable man. Directed us to take away coffee cups & prebaked croissants so we were able to take away a breakfast even though breakfast service hadn’t quite started. This chap should be front of house or teach reception staff a thing or two about customer service or just general people skills.

For 12 days, my partner and I enjoyed a most comfortable stay, the room and bathroom was nice and well prepared, good sized towels etc., and of quality, - which are able to be changed as wished by placing a card on the outside door handle. The lounge area is a really nice place to meet friends, and/or to buy alcoholic drinks, as with the café area to order meals to suit, which are of good quality and tastes great! My partner finds stairs difficult at times, and is pleased the Travelodge has a lift. As we live in Spain, our trip to see family and friends in various areas is most suited to stay in Haverhill, a short taxi ride ( around five to six pounds) to the bus station, for busses. The factor that sets The Travelodge - Haverhill top of our list, for each of our stays each year, not just the reasonable price, but the staff, so friendly and helpful!!
