The Watling Inn

Had a brilliant stay at the Watling Inn. From the time we walked through the front door everything was spot on. Pavan was very helpful, the room was bright, very clean and bed very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. We had a meal the night before we left, again delicious. We would highly recommend a stay here, we will be back.

This is a very reasonably priced hotel so you get what you pay for. It’s cheap and cheerful, friendly staff, comfy bed, good shower, cafe style food/brekkie. Is it perfect - no, is it great value - yes. If you want luxury you need to pay a luxury price if you want a clean room (if a little run down) and comfy bed for a very low price this works.

Almost stayed here but didn’t - after waiting 15 mins at Reception with another traveller we were eventually seen after telephoning the hotel! Taken to rooms only to find when the room unlocked that someone was in it! I left at this point as did not feel safe as a lone female traveller. Shrug of the shoulders from the staff member as I left!

Its the old cliche you get what you pay for and in this case its good value for money. Stayed in room 17 and yes the previous review of the guests staying in room 17 is the same but the bed is comfy and very clean. We did manage to hook up to wifi. Very friendly staff ideal location and would stay here again

Where to start, when we entered the inn it felt a bit run down, but the lady on reception was lovely took us to our room apologised for the cold corridors as it was a cold day. Our room was freezing too but we managed to get the 1 radiator (no heating in the bathroom) switched on. The room was very clean and basic what we expected as reflected in the price. There was only a small amount of loo roll available and no replacement available (maybe due to a lack of checking of rooms before let). The room took a long time to warm up, there was a draught under the door which quickly kept the electric heater trying to keep the room warm making an eratic loud ticking noise which led to a disrupted nights sleep. The doors in the corridors asked for customers not to let them slam at between 2 and 3.30am the customers didn't read them and sleep was disturbed more. Breakfast was lovely cooked fresh and tasted great. On the whole for a further £8 we could have stayed in The Chase Inn where the rooms are fab ( we stayed on a previous occasion) where there is a bar and restaurant on site. Poor sleep quality and a noisy premises means we will not be booking again. Shame for the 2 ladies who seemed to be running it.

Not a very nice place to stay. Staff were arguing on arrival as we were standing there waiting to check in. Lady showed us to our room but didn’t talk (found a bit rude) bed sheets were stained with creases and place was dirty. Went home and left
