Inn on Golden Pond recensioner

We stayed at the Inn on Golden Pond a few weeks ago with our two children and had a wonderful time. The inn is beautiful and the living area is packed with games, coloring pencils, and coloring books for kids. The breakfast is phenomenal, and they have coffee, tea, and muffins available 24/7. We were the only family staying in the inn during our trip and Erica and Mike's family was so welcoming. Their children kindly played with our older son. This is really truly a family-friend place to stay! We plan to return in the summer months.

Lovely quirky spot in Holderness (where On Golden Pond was filmed) on beautiful 'Little' Lake Squam - which is big but not by comparison to other nearby lakes. The area is full of lakes and is beautiful for walking, boating, etc.. and our Inn has it's own private beach 4 min walk away with paddle boards for guests - I swam - Heavenly! The owners are a charming young couple with 3 young children who somehow provide delicious huge freshly cooked breakfasts, good coffee and great advice about where to visit. As with all the places we stayed, guests were chatty and interesting. Our room was in a separate building which was nice and private - decent king bed and cosy decor - bathroom and shower could have been a little better appointed but that's a small aside. There's plenty to do in the area on the lakes, walks, and visiting nearby pretty towns - local restaurants vary but we ate really well twice at nearby Inn & Kitchen - delicious, ,causal but slightly more sophisticated than other places, and fantastic farm to table 30 mins drive in Rochester, called Maple Soul - well worth a detour, book ahead - small casual and great fresh food - big portions.

We really enjoyed our stay at this inn. The room was updated, spacious, and clean. There are coffees and muffins available any time. The breakfast was really delicious. I think the ingredients such as eggs were from their own chickens. There were many old photos on the dining room wall. I enjoyed reading the stories of the four generations of the owners of this inn. The hostess Erika and her father Paul were great people.

We had a wonderful time at this inn! The rooms were large and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were soft. Several pillow options were offered, as well. The innkeepers, Erica and Mike, were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was delicious every morning - farm fresh eggs from their chickens, maple syrup made on site, and bacon and sausage from their pigs! The inn itself was just beautiful - large porches all around, huge patio and fire pit area, large fenced area for your dogs to play and exercise. They have done an amazing job preserving this historic home. We hope to be able to return in the near future!

Amazing! Great location, spotlessly clean and great amenities - we brought our dog Oakley and he had as amazing a time as we did :) the breakfasts were delicious and the grounds were really nice - huge dog run and a beautiful back patio. Getting into town was super easy too. The stay was wonderful and the owners are the nicest and most helpful people you could hope to meet - the hikes they recommended were perfect for us. Thank you!!!

This place is fabulous. The young owners, Erica and Mike are so nice and friendly. Mike runs the kitchen and Erica runs the main area of the house. They have redone the whole interior as far as paint, wallpaper, furniture, decor. It is keeping with the old style with modern amenities. There is a coffee pot in every room which was much appreciated. Breakfast was served at 8:30, restaurant style. There were menus and orders were taken and served. The food was really delicious. The bowls of fruit were large, and all of the fruit was great. We even asked where they get the fruit because it was so good. There are chickens roaming around and turkeys and pigs on the property. There is a large patio in the back with a wood bonfire and a small gas fire table to enjoy. Erica was willing to give us ideas of where to eat and where to see things. We had no trouble finding places to eat in town. We walked a little bit (maybe 1/2 mile) to see their beach across the street. And we hiked up Rattlesnake Mountain to see a stunning view. There are pictures of the Inn and families that have run it through the years and there is a fun book of before and after pictures of what this couple has done. It seems they have put their hearts and souls into this place and we, the visitors, are the lucky ones. My only regret is that we didn't stay here longer before moving to our next location. If we ever get back to the area, this will be the place we stay.

This is a lovely, newly renovated inn near Squam Lake and Little Squam. Although it is on a busy road, it is set back with lovely grounds and gardens. We stayed in Birch Pond which is a spacious room with an extremely comfortable king sized bed and well appointed bathroom on the second floor facing the front. Erica, the host, was very friendly and quick with recommendations when asked. The breakfast was exceptional. There is a breakfast menu to choose from rather than two items which is often the case with an inn. This was very appreciated and the food was delicious. I had the French toast with berries, TWICE, which was exceptional! Can highly recommend a stay here.

We loved our stay here! It was elegant, very comfortable and welcoming. Our kids loved the farm and play areas and the breakfasts were amazing! Erica herself was outstandingly kind to us, driving us 40 minutes to a wedding when we missed our transport. This is a wonderful inn and we hope to return!

Wonderful!!! Gorgeous property and rooms, excellent homemade breakfasts made by a chef able to easily/happily accommodate a vegan. Location is perfect - a few minutes from Holderness. Best of all, our pups were truly welcomed and enjoyed and had plenty of space to roam in the fenced dog yard and lots of excitement with the free-range chickens and big turkey … the hosts create such a family friendly environment while still making you feel pampered .. will def go again!

Innkeepers were very nice. Our room was lovely with a very useable bathroom. We enjoyed talking with the other guests. The innkeepers has about forty chickens that provide fresh eggs for breakfast and are entertaining to watch. One evening we were all invited to make s’mores in the backyard fire pit. It was next to a beautiful large tree that contained all of the chickens. Seem they like to sleep in the tree! We would recommend the guided pontoon tour on the lake sponsored by the nearby science center. Many restaurants and small quant towns nearby. We visited Golden Pond more than twenty years ago and enjoyed revisiting the area. We were pleased to see that the character of the area has not changed.

Lovely and wonderful little Inn in Holderness. Friendly and nice owners who really care about their guest. Great Breakfast. Nice outdoor area with a lot of room to play for the kids. If you are looking for a nice to switch off for a few days it’s the perfect place.

Erica & Mike are outstanding and very responsive. I let them know ahead of our stay about my food allergies and Mike was awesome about cooking a breakfast I was able to eat AND it was outstanding! Their attention to detail, kindness, and easy going nature made our stay really fantastic! Our room was just as pictured and was very comfortable! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again and again! We loved the chickens and pickles the turkey! The other guests were very friendly and though the accommodations are high quality, the Inn is not pretentious. Very family friendly, which we truly loved. We highly recommend!!

We loved our stay here. Even before we checked in, Erica was kind and offered suggestions of things to do and places to eat. Upon arrival, our kids met, and we had the benefit of an added playmate during our visit. The Inn is cozy and well kept, there's basic kid activities, and our room had plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 small kids. There’s always warm drinks available. Breakfast was delicious. There’s a large yard (with a play structure) that, even with the snow and ice was fun for kids, but I imagine in the summer is even better. I look forward to returning in warm weather!

My husband and I were here for 4 days to enjoy the foliage. Our hosts couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful . Our room was Moose Mountain. It was quiet and I enjoyed the decor. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room was spacious . We were given many tips and recommendations and maps. I loved seeing the many chickens every day and ate fresh eggs every morning along with delicious waffles , French toast and pancakes. Thanks to Mike I am now on a diet! The setting is spectacular, the location is close to restaurants and sightseeing. The trip couldn’t have been better. Thank you Erica and Mike for amazing memories! We look forward to next time!
