Four adults, had vouchers for overnight stay and wine tasting and tour. What does Holmfirth want to be, Vineyard? Restaurant? Wedding Venue? The car park is badly thought out, nightmare! The accommodation should be situated next to restaurant, why would you put it up/down a narrow lane and a blind bend. Hence we had to use the car to drive 5 minutes round the bend. The reception/restaurant/bar was chaotic when we arrived, no pleasant greeting, just a no, you’ll have to wait over there pointing to seating area. Then, you can go to accommodation now, back round the bend. Then back in car round bend to have lunch, which was ok. Restaurant more like large cafe than dining room, however in circular area view is pleasant. Accommodation, back round the hairpin bend, plenty of room, beds ok, however, as it is circular, couldn’t have curtains open when you’re in as everyone passing to go to their room can see straight in to every room, Including bedroom. Also, looks like they have ongoing problems with unfinished work, pipes over walkway etc. parking a bad issue also, hardly any room and loose stones make it difficult to park, especially as you have to back out onto the, yes you guessed it that blind bend narrow lane. Ash, the colleague who conducted the tour, that never happened as weather was to bad,not your fault, was very talkative…for an hour and a half! Some people left, they couldn’t stand up for that long, some people were falling asleep ,have a contingency plan for bad weather at least have stools ready to sit on, my husband and friend also left and sat in reception. Also, a wine tasting which we eventually got to was a poor comparison, to others we have been to. No chance for question and answer, except at end of monologue ,no small cheese and biscuit items to have with the very meager amount of wine. Ash couldn’t get round everyone with the wine anyway because people were asking him questions. Consider smaller groups, better tastings, more sales, let’s face it you are supposed to be a vineyard. Ash explained all the problems about the vines etc and one year only having 250 bottles, also about opening new place at Robin Hood’s bay, also about the fact you cut the amount of weddings, I would have thought listening to this you would have promoted more weddings and Do more with restaurant events as it sounded like good money after bad, when you have to collect wine from the Bay to use at Holmfirth and you’re actually telling people this. Going forward get Ash some help with the tastings and tour. I know it’s the UK, but at your competitors, we have a lot of new wine Growers now, it’s only my opinion but I think you are all missing something. On our evening meal, which was very nice, we couldn’t have the wine we asked for as you didn’t have it, so we had to choose one that you had to bring in from somewhere else. ?? At a vineyard, selling someone else’s wine. Breakfast was lovely. Left feeling very let down. Decide what you want to be as it’s
