In town for surgery, arrived after checkin and room wasn't ready, offered a downgraded room with no discount only deposit waived. I had a driver with me that had to pick me up from the hospital after surgery and overnight stay. Called after surgery to ask if they could sell an extra night because I wouldn't be able to leave the hospital until way past checkout. Carmen said that wouldn't be a problem but the person staying would need to book the room since I wouldn't be there to extend the stay. The person staying with me went back, paid for the extra night, picked up new keys and everything should have been settled. When I was able to leave the hospital we got back to the room and ate and then laid down to sleep. Right as we were dozing off the door opened to the room. It was an employee who realized the room was occupied but didn't knock before entering. A few minutes later they came back and knocked and the person staying with me had to go downstairs and fill out paperwork all over again and get new keys after all of this had previously been completed. They charged him two deposits because the management and employee is incompetent at their job. The next morning we went down at 730 for breakfast only to find no hot food available. I stopped to remind the manager that it is not franchise policy to open the door without knocking and how dangerous that is. He said that didn't happen and he had it on video that it didn't happen. He's right, the front desk agent did knock after coming back the second time. The first time they did not. He insisted he had video which I insisted on seeing, but he never produced it. At checkout he kept insisting it never happened. This would have been a five star review if he had admitted his mistake and apologized. This is a trait of Indian hoteliers especially young ones. I ran four hotels for a region, two Wyndham properties, a Marriott and an IHG property and the knock policy is a cornerstone of training at all of them. The hotel is nice and clean and could easily be a 3-4 star property if managed better.
