Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham/280 East-Eagle Point

We booked this hotel through their website and there was no indication that the hotel was undergoing renovations. We arrived after driving for 8 hours and walked into a complete mess. Workers were in the lobby area laying carpet, sanding, etc. The entire breakfast area was blocked off with poly and a meeting room was being used for the breakfast area. Tables and chairs were sitting on top of the plastic covered floor. We asked the desk clerk for a quiet room away from the elevator. We got to our floor and the room she assigned to us backed right up to the elevator. There were noisy fans blowing down the hallway. It smelled like glue and paint even in the room. There was dust from remodeling on the furniture and the toilet bowl was stained. The front desk clerk was not helpful at all and when we mentioned leaving she said she couldn't guarantee we would get a refund. I called Hilton and talked to their customer service dept. They did agree to issue a refund so we left and found another hotel close by. Hilton should be aware of renovations and always indicate this on their website. Had we known ahead of time we would never have booked this hotel.

Clean room overall. Housekeeping did a nice job cleaning the room. Overall the hotel needs a good TLC with some attention to detail in the rooms. Grout issues especially in the bathroom need attention. New pillows and mattresses would be nice. The front desk staff at night was nice and professional.

Nice hotel with great breakfast. Only problem was only 1 of 2 elevators were operating and took too long calling one to 4th floor. Gave them the benefit of a doubt about getting it repaired since it was the weekend. Young lady managing the breakfast did a great job.

I truly enjoy this Hampton Inn. Location, excellent and quiet. Nice mountain view. Shopping and dining all around, great roads, convenient. Hotel is very clean, staff very friendly. And I will say, I always enjoy the breakfast at this hotel, the staff making and serving is always so pleasant and the food quality excellent. Nice pool, quiet, well maintained, a very good Hampton Inn.

Rooms are clean and well maintained. It was very good time of stay for me. I was traveling from the other side of the globe, I was very tired but thank God had a good rest here. The breakfast was good. It is in a very safe area.

Stayed here for a long weekend during a softball tournament. Great location, with many food options nearby. Clean room, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Would pick this property again in a heartbeat!

The property is in a picturesque setting. It's an ideal location: within walking distance of restaurants, movie theatre, and a ***** mall. Our concern was that the walls are paper thin. You can hear people talking in the next room. If you're not on the top floor (we weren't), you'll hear every single step from those in the room above. We dealt with the mentioned for one night, but would not stay for multiple nights, and would not stay at this particular hotel again.

Excellent hotel! New, very clean (they even had hand sanitizer and lysol wipes at the elevator for your use), they also have a very friendly, customer service oriented staff! Breakfast was excellent!! Had fresh strawberries and blueberries! I put them on my waffle. Delicious!!!! Cold bottle water available for free in front of registration desk, coffee available at all times. We were presented a welcome gift of a bottle of water, soft drink and a granola bar on arrival! They don’t automatically clean your room or changes towels when staying more than one night so you will need to notify them if you want them changed. Great place to stay!!!

We almost canceled our reservation after reading some of the previous reviews for this hotel, but so glad we didn't. We had a very nice stay. I agree with previous travelers that some updates are needed (i.e., the TV is ancient, the remote barely worked, the sofa cushions on the pull out bed are WAY past replacement, and the bagel toaster was on it's last leg), but we didn't spend much time in our room anyway. We were out and about enjoying Barber Motor Speedway and the Birmingham area. We had some challenges for the weekend we stayed since only one of the two elevators were working and it was pretty busy over the weekend we had a few longer waits to get to the 4th floor, but the rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable and the location was perfect. There are also restaurants within walking distance and the breakfast each day was great. We would definitely stay at this hotel again for a return trip.
