Hope & Anchor

What a fabulous place! The location was stunning overlooking the cove, we were met with a warm & friendly welcome, our room was comfortable with great views. Food was excellent and staff were lovely. We were treated to the most spectacular sunsets on our visit. Would recommend a stay here.

I wanted a few days near the sea and The Hope & Anchor does not disappoint being a few feet from the beach. My room was spacious, yet cosy. I could hear the sea but not other guests or customers in the bar and restaurant. The food was very good in terms of variety, quality and reasonably priced.

We booked this as a gift for our parents. Mum and dad tried to post this on Facebook but aren’t tech savvy. Thank you so so much for looking after them! The staff were warm & beautiful & spoilt us & genuinely excited that we wanted to celebrate our Ruby anniversary with them. Everyone knew about us & chatted with us. Food was gorgeous. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food excellent. Lovely room too with a great sea view. All in all a lovely relaxing stay.

We visited Hope Cove and stayed at the Hope and Anchor for our honeymoon. There was a bit of a hiccup with the booking but Jessie was fabulous and sorted everything out for us. The room was beautiful, quirky and had amazing views. The only thing I would say is that the smoking area beneath the window may be better placed somewhere else, as with the ocean breeze the room quickly smelled of smoke and vapes if we had the windows opened. As vegans it was great to have such tasty food, breakfast was very nice and a good size. Main meals and starters were tasty but small, for example 5 small bits of tofu, and it would have been better (more filling) to have another vegetable or a salad with our vegan ‘sausage’ and butter bean mash (which was delicious). The staff were amazing and so welcoming, Jessie and Ollie (? - apologies if I’ve got the name wrong!) seemed to be always there and were fabulous! Thank you for our great stay!

We went there to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. A birthday treat from our youngest daughter her husband and 2 children. The venue is wonderful, the staff were great and the food was delicious. An added surprise was the card, free bottle of beer and fridge magnet for my husband. Two of us had the mussels, one had fish and chips, one had the vegan "fish" and chips and the children had pizzas. The portions were generous and the food was perfect. The setting is marvellous; right near the beach. Thank you all at The Hope and Anchor for making my husband's day so special.
