Hornillos Meeting Point (Pilgrim Hostel)

My experience with this hostel was not good. At first, when I walked in, my backpack was not there and the receptionist was very helpful, talking to the shuttle service for me and helping me. Then she told me that they could take my backpack to the next town I went to and I would spend the night there. It sounded great to me and she offered me some forgotten clothes so I could sleep. But then came the price. She wanted to charge me 18 euros saying it was because the distance I asked for was three steps. Plus the six euros for that day. When she told me this I told her I needed to sit down and think because I'm not traveling with a lot of money. I was just nervous and needing to think calmly. She then proceeded to say that she was helping me and I was putting obstacles in her way. I asked her to calm down because I needed to sit down and think. And she kept saying that I was putting up obstacles. So I decided to talk to a taxi driver who was there to pick up a passenger if he could then take me back to Burgos and I would spend the night there. He accepted. When I went back to get my things and let her know, she told me that I would still have to pay the daily rate. And I said it didn't make sense because there were pilgrims right there looking for accommodation. And she then said she was going to call the police if I didn't pay. And at that point, I got really mad and yelled at her because she was accusing me of something serious. She started crying and not accepting any conversation. In short, I paid the 13 euros and sure enough, some pilgrim also paid to sleep in that bed. That is, they got twice as much for a bed on May 24, 2022.

We're pilgrims walking the Camino Santiago and, due to physical issues, we decided to take a taxi from Hornillos to our next location. We were just walking through this town and we remembered being told told that all albergues would help pilgrims if they could. We decided to stop at this albergue and ask the host if she would be so kind as to call a taxi for us. She spoke English but instead of answering us she pointed to the taxi number. We asked her to call since our Spanish isn't very good. She shook her head, and walked away. Thankfully a young Spanish gentleman, just starting the Camino walked, overheard the conversation and assisted us.

Petite chambre à deux lit, simple, mais très propre. Dommage que les matelas soient de mousse. Personnel gentil et sympatique. Délicieuse paella le soir, mais pas assez pour qui a marché pour une journée entière. Petit déjeuner composé que de pain, beurre et confiture. Pas de céréale.
