My friend and I took an overnight car trip from Lisbon, where we live (though we are both originally from Australia). We found Vitoria Stone online, and we were not disappointed. Parking is on the street, which was not a problem. From the outside the hotel looks like a contemporary new'ish build. The reception area is desginerly-fun; the nearby megalithic standing stones clearly influenced the interior designer. The front desk staff were professional, very helpful and multi-lingual. At check in, we booked dinner at the hotel’s 'destination' restaurant as we'd read about it online and were looking forward to dining from their excellent regional menu and wine list. (FYI it is worth coming to this hotel just for the restaurant; the food and service were first class!) The rooms were comfortable, well insulated from the street noise and summer heat outside; the bathroom spacious. Shortly after arriving, we had a delicious cocktail at the rooftop bar, where there’s also an infinity pool and impressive views over the Alentejo countryside. The 4th floor is also a casual dining area and it’s where an extensive and delicious buffet breakfast is served. The hotel is an easy 10-minute walk from the Evora's walled old city and having spent a day, walking and exploring, before our departure, we chose to go back to the hotel to shop from its curated selection of ‘taste of the Alentejo’ wines, honey, preserves, chocolates, soaps etc. Vitoria Stone is a small boutique hotel, it is not a luxury, 5-star international hotel nor a historic Pousado, but in terms of value for a short stay, it was excellent!
