The room was nice and modern, but the service needs improvement. Check-in was at 3 PM, but when we arrived on time, the room wasn’t ready. They claimed the delay was because they were setting up a baby crib for us. That was untrue. When the room was finally ready around 3:30 PM, there was no baby crib. It didn’t arrive until 8 PM, by which time we no longer needed it. The room also wasn’t properly prepared. A personalized card addressed to someone else was left in the room. There was no hand soap or body lotion provided—I had to call and request them. This is far from a 5-star experience. As for the swimming pool, guests are required to wear swimming caps, but no caps were provided. Who travels with a swimming cap? Not everyone is training for the Olympics.

The hotel is new and beautiful and has nice facilities. Unfortunately the service was horrible. The staff does not seem to be properly trained. They could not give any guidance regarding nearby tourist attractions or restaurants and would not offer me a late checkout even though the hotel was empty and I have Bonvoy Ambassador status.

What can I say… excellent service. Immaculate, spacious and comfortable rooms. Impressive decoration and stunning lobby. And the highlight of our stay may have been the sumptuous breakfast. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Hualien.

The last time I came to Hualien was with family years ago, back then the hotels we stayed at were dated and very local. Many years has passed and its nice to see Hualien finally has its first international branded hotel. For me the qualities that define a good hotel are in the details; rooms having double sinks, quality of bedsheets and pillows, gym having brand new Technogym...all exceeded expectations, not to mention the beautiful design of the hotel and artwork in the lobby. Apparently there is onsen as well, which is currently under repairs from earthquake. The staff we encountered were all super friendly and professional, we had a set dinner at the Chinese restaurant and everything was delicious. There weren't many tourists this time around so it was pretty quiet, hope to come back again soon when onsen is open!

Feeling extremely disappointed with this hotel. It's definitely not up to international standards and the lack of integrity is appalling. I wouldn't recommend anyone wasting their money here. How did the Marriott group approve the use of the Le Méridien brand here?
