We enjoyed this hotel. There weren’t any rooms available with two double beds, so we opted for a room with a pull out couch. This worked fine and all the bedding we needed was available (in the closet). When we arrived, there was a minor problem with the bathroom door and we asked for a repair and the manager personally came up to fix it before we returned for the night, which we really appreciated. We found the service to be exceptional. The room was very clean, breakfast was awesome, and parking was free! We were very happy with this hotel and would certainly stay again.

Do not stay at this hotel. Seasoned traveler got taken for a ride... We checked in late after 10pm. Walking in my room barefoot I had sticky muffin crumbs sticking to my feet. Took a shower and no soap in the dispenser. The next morning we headed out for a few hour, so I consolidated my sleeve wallet with my large wallet, but I left $50 in my sleeve wallet. The hotel does not have a safe in the room, but I advise them to install safes ASAP. Slide my wallet into my backpack, sipped it up, and turned it upside down on to of my suitcase. We proceeded to leave the hotel, but I stopped off at the desk and asked if someone could vacuum the carpet and put soap in the dispenser. Came back a few hours later to find my backpack was flipped over and gone through. My money was gone, my wife check her purse and found the money she had in a side pocket was gone. Fortunately we only had left $60 in our "secured" room. I notified the hotel staff and the knew who they sent to my room (not disclosing the guy's name), and said they have had problems with him. The following day I spoke to the hotel manager, and she said an investigation was being done, and they would be able to check video footage. The response I got was the "issue" and the "employee" had been dealt with. I was offered to receive $60 in points to compensate me. I was not pleased with the clear need to show no liability and that I could have $60 worth of points. The manager did say she was so very sorry, but I'm not sure what she was sorry for as she refused to say what the "issue" was to me. No accountability, and after repeated request to speak to a higher up manager I never received a response. I hope the manager sees this review and knows that I'm not going to just be brushed off like I must have misplaced my belongings. I spent over an hour at the police station filling out a report during my vacation. All I have to show for it is this review.

The front desk, housekeeping and Holly at the bar was excellent. I highly recommend this hotel! When you have front desk assistance which is awesome, bartender who is so attentive and great! What else do you need? Great experience! Give everyone a raise!

A must stay when you visit Cleveland! We had a concert at Rocket Mortgage and this hotel was perfect. Not too far away. And reasonable! Our room was so clean-I felt like we were the first people to stay in it. Front desk staff and bartender were super friendly. We have stayed at countless hotels when visiting Cleveland...this one was the best by far!

Springhill Suites, Independence, Ohio, has been a go-to hotel when visiting family in the greater Cleveland area for more than five years. No more! Upon check-in, our status within Marriott rewards was not acknowledged. Our initially assigned room was so visibly dirty, we requested a new room. The second room, was better but not up to Marriott standards. The bathroom floors haven’t been adequately cleaned in far too long; they are tacky feeling and your feet/shoes leave prints in the grime. The carpeted floors are also dirty with visible debris. The room HVAC unit, under the window, was filthy. Paper products weren’t fresh, or folded; towels needed to be replaced and weren’t uniformly presented. Overall, the hotel is in rapid decline, the staff seems indifferent to guests, and cleanliness. After our first day away, we returned to find that our room had not been serviced. When we called to inquire, the front desk person informed us that they no longer provide daily service, unless specifically requested. We were not made aware of this new policy when we reserved, or checked into, this hotel. Marriott, you are better than this! Please pay attention to what’s happening at Springhill Suites, Independence, Ohio.

I'd love to give this place a five star review, but for one thing! First the good: The front desk staff was great, friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. It looked out at part of the Kent State campus which was very attractive. And the not as good: The pool was murky, like the water needed better filtration, or maybe the staff needed to reread the manual on how to care for it. And the bad: The HVAC unit was loud, really, really loud--like trying to sleep with a garbage truck idling at the head of your bed. It kept us lying awake. We finally tried turning it off entirely, but the room cooled off after a few hours and we had to turn the heat back on. In the morning, we decided that it was the housing for the unit that was vibrating like mad and making all the noise. If not for that, we'd really have enjoyed our stay.

Find this hotel to be very relaxing, very comfortable beds, clean crisp linens, clean bathrooms and helpful, friendly staff. Have made this my go to hotel if traveling near Cleveland and don’t need to be downtown. Convenient to major highways and easy on off. Close to restaurants and shopping. Staff is especially cordial and helpful. Breakfast is good and V makes the best coffee and adds to a comfortable stay.
