12 unit newer hotel located 1 hr by car or 10 min by “passenger only” ferry, from Placencia. There are no touristy shops or activities to do in Independencia. There are 5-6 small grocery stores. This hotel has an onsite restaurant. The room has comfortable beds and pillows, with clean linen. There is a TV, good wifi, and good A/C. It has a modern bathroom, no towel bar. Shower water is lukewarm, so no hot shower. There is no light above the mirror for shaving or make-up. There is no mini-fridge. Friendly staff at front desk and restaurant.

The Restaurant is a beautiful and cultural experience that I enjoy over and over again. The wait staff is very kind and accommodating. The food is true to the Belizean culture which I look for when I travel. That is all I have to say now I’m filling

My family and I traveled to Belize for the holidays from Atlanta! We stayed here for a few days after a drive from Cayo and found the place to be safe, clean, and very comfortable! The restaurant was top notch with your choice of a traditional Irish or Belizean breakfast! Staff and owner were super attentive and pleasant. Also a nice bar with a good selection of cocktails to wet your whistle. Would definitely recommend for families or business travelers.

Clean, white linens, AC works very well, area is quiet, beds are comfortable, restaurant is big, clean, great attention to detail. Overall, lovely stay. The menu in the restaurant has great options. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional .

Very safe and comfortable. The staff were amazing. The restaurant and servers were top notch. I would definitely go back again to stay. The only thing they could use is a Mini fridge in the rooms along with some outside seating. The rooms were comfortable otherwise.

Clean, comfortable rooms with a great restaurant. Very nice place! Air conditioned and guarded at night, so it is very safe! The restaurant has a great menu and fast service and kind employees. If you are in Independence, check this place out!

I absolutely love this place. The best looking place we have in Independence, however I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the food! I went for breakfast and ordered a Belizean breakfast ( fry jacks,beans,eggs and bacon) everything on my plate was not good. If the owners invest in experience cooks,waiters and bartenders, this place will be the best in the south.

We went to the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. The place looks great with AC. The service is great and welcoming. The food came quick and it was really good. Great place to go eat when you make a trip to the village of Independence. Just a great experience.

The Toucan Inn is hands down the most hospitable hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious- they made the best chicken I’ve ever tasted (mango habanero chicken I think). The rooms were clean and spacious. I only have good things to say about this hotel! If you are searching for a place to stay in this area, this is where to go.
