The Toucan Inn

We enjoyed our stay at Toucan Inn. The room was clean and spacious. The AC worked great and there was plenty of hot water! The only thing that would have been perfect would’ve been having a hair dryer and a mini-fridge in the room. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant. I do think they would benefit from more staffing because it took quite a while to bring the food.

The rooms were updated and clean. There was a desk and chair which was convenient. The bathroom door opened inward which made space to walk around the toilet, awkward. The vanity mirror in the sink area, didn't have a light. We arrived around supper time & was informed the restaurant was having a private event so would not be available to us. It was a holiday weekend & many other places were closed in the village. The next morning, we were going to have breakfast but they were very understaffed & still hadn't gotten our food after almost 2 hours of waiting. The restaurant was quite busy with only 1 server and 1 cook. I had a meeting so had to leave without getting my order. Outside the lack of food options and staff shortage, the rooms and beds were fine, the grounds were well taken care of, the parking felt secure. Hope they can find more people to staff the restaurant. I did hear the food was good once you got it.

The Restaurant is a beautiful and cultural experience that I enjoy over and over again. The wait staff is very kind and accommodating. The food is true to the Belizean culture which I look for when I travel. That is all I have to say now I’m filling

My family and I traveled to Belize for the holidays from Atlanta! We stayed here for a few days after a drive from Cayo and found the place to be safe, clean, and very comfortable! The restaurant was top notch with your choice of a traditional Irish or Belizean breakfast! Staff and owner were super attentive and pleasant. Also a nice bar with a good selection of cocktails to wet your whistle. Would definitely recommend for families or business travelers.

Very safe and comfortable. The staff were amazing. The restaurant and servers were top notch. I would definitely go back again to stay. The only thing they could use is a Mini fridge in the rooms along with some outside seating. The rooms were comfortable otherwise.

Clean, comfortable rooms with a great restaurant. Very nice place! Air conditioned and guarded at night, so it is very safe! The restaurant has a great menu and fast service and kind employees. If you are in Independence, check this place out!
