The Tontine Hotel & Bar

A very warm and friendly welcome. The staff were kind, welcoming and made me feel very much at ease. As I am quite an anxious person, this is very important to me. Although I did not eat in the hotel on this occasion, I look forward to doing so on my next visit. The light bites menu looks perfect for lunch!

I went to the Tontine last Saturday to celebrated my brother and his wife’s Golden Wedding anniversary. There were 22 of us that needed to be catered for and the staff made sure everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until we left. The food was incredible and nothing was too much trouble . Special thanks to Leanne who cooked the superb meal and to Dan who catered for our every need . I will definitely recommend

Dreadful pizza the chef needs to know procuitto means ham not expessive palm ham and freshly made pizza does not have a base the consistency of cardboard. When will hotels realise people are not ****** and do not except poor make do fake food . With every poor review there is always a 5 star review to follow , I think this must be staff and friends of the owner ??

The meal was disappointing. I had pizza and the waiter brought me a pizza cutter which would not cut through the crust. My knife would not cut through it either and I ended up pulling it apart. It was not very tasty. There was a lot of it though so you wouldn't leave hungry if you ate it all, which I didn't. Terry had what was listed as Chicken Supreme in a Diane sauce. Really? I've never seen Chicken Supreme or Dian sauce that was brown. It was edible but not great. The place looks tired and in need of refurbishment. The window frames outside are rotting which doesn't inspire you to go in but it was forecast heavy rain so we booked it as it was the nearest restaurant to our accommodation. would not be inclined to dine there again though. The waiter was friendly and helpful. We didn't complain as the meal was edible, just not of a very good standard.

The Tontine – Ironbridge A lovely hotel bar directly facing the famous Ironbridge. It was named after a Tontine contract will set up by the bridge’s founding father’s including Abraham Darby. A Tontine leaves the money accumulated for it to the last surviving signatory of the agreement. (They were used as the plot of many an Edwardian Whodunnit as the killer turns out to be responsible for the death of the other potential beneficiaries). Though they served food I just had a very nice pint of real ale. Comfy spacious drinking space and very friendly service. Arthur Chappell

Worth the walk down the hill with a dodgy knee! Warm welcome on arrival and then the best baked Brie & Beef Sunday Roast for a main course. Easy drinking with a bottle of the Rose Invenio and all round very pleasant way to spend a Sunday lunch with a fabulous view of Ironbridge. Will definitely be back & would recommend a visit to locals & visitors alike! 🤤
