Hotel Isafjordur - Horn

This is a hotel that was once a Hotel (1980) Agree with previous correspondent. Trouble is the Nordic Visitor booked us in to the Hotel Horn ( gored blimey !… get the joke ?) without telling us about the fact it is really an old hotel with no services. That is no front desk . First thing I noticed is that they need to clean the windows. The room spacious, beds comfortable and bathroom is ok . No restaurant in the Hotel Horn but there is one at its big sister called the Hotel Isafjordur Torg. So folks be sure to stay at the Torg and not the Horn or you may be on the horns of a dilemma when you arrive. You get 10% discount on food at Torg because you were so good and brave to stay at the Horn !!!

This is a VERY VERY basic hotel. Almost like a dorm room. One cheap plastic chair and small table. Nowhere to sit but on your bed. Maybe a step up from a hostel (although I’ve never been to one). The hotel does not have a front desk. You have to walk to the next block to another hotel to register and you also have to go to that other hotel for breakfast. Parking is poor. There were no spots to park behind the hotel when we got there (only maybe enough for 8 cars) so had to park 2-3 blocks away. The breakfast was very good. The door was locked to the building, so you had a code to get in which makes you feel very secure. The beds were comfortable, the shower decent, and it was clean. If you do NOT have your room cleaned, they give you a free drink at the other hotel which is good incentive. Also, there is a towel warmer so that made it easy to wash out some clothes and dry them. Despite the negatives, it was very quiet and I slept well. There are so few options in this town that this is basically what you get. I think I was just a bit shocked when I walked in and felt like I was in college again….

Unique hotel in the middle of Isafjordur. It almost looked like a former hostel that had been renovated into a hotel. We had a large charming room with mountain and water views. The bathroom was old fashioned but spacious. Very quiet property, comfortable bed, decent curtains (although the room could have stood to be darker at night). Only two quibbles—the scary elevator was really intimidating, and both check-in and breakfast were down the street. This mattered a bit, as it was very windy and rainy when we arrived and on the following morning. That said, it was a pleasant stay. I’d probably book it again.

We had to check in at a sister hotel, a block from the facility we were staying . The facility we stayed at was unattended. Required a code to enter our hotel. Parking was very limited. Our room was spacious. Bathroom quite small. In the morning, we walked a block to have breakfast at the sister hotel.

The hotel was pretty much of a standard to be expected in this part of Iceland. We had to check in at Hotel Torg down the street. Our hotel was totally unstaffed and we had a code to enter the building, Breakfast was also served at the other hotel and so there were NO amenities in our building at all. The room was comfortable and we had a corner room with a view of the main area of the town. Plenty of parking behind the building which made it convenient.

Je moet de sleutel afhalen in een ander hotel, er is geen eigen receptie of personeel. Ontbijt dan weer in andere locatie. Kamers veelal enkele bedden. Badkamer ruim maar uitgeleefd. Groezelig badgordijn. Het hout vd gootsteen op de randen gezwollen door het vocht. Een stopcontact hing uit de muur. De lift is een bizarre soort goederenlift die bij ons onmiddellijk buiten werking zou worden gesteld omwille vd veiligheid ! Op eerste zicht redelijk propere kamers, handdoeken en beddengoed. Wel lawaai vd straat. Zwakke Wifi. Geen aanrader
