Hotel Mare Blu Terme

The best hotel on the island with great staff, clean rooms, good AC, plenty of pools (includes thermal spa pool) and its own beach. 7 minutes by taxi from the port (ferries to Naples each 15 min). 10 minutes to the main island walking street. There are many good restaurants around.

One week at this wonderful place is simply not enough! We will definitely come back. The service was wonderful from everyone in the hotel and everything was always that little bit extra that makes the experience go from good to great! And the limoncello spritz at the bar was the best we had on Ischia/Capri/Amalfi! Thanks Luigi! And thank you the entire staff for a wonderful time! Pia and Peter

This hotel is NOT a 5-Star property! However, most importantly, we enjoyed our 4-Star/7 night stay. The breakfast which was included was more than adequate. The public living rooms and bar area were very nice. The staff was lovely. Being right on the water listening to the waves on the beach was peaceful. We had a junior suite with sea view and a private terrace with an amazing view of the castle. Excellent central location which was very walkable to the Port area as well very close to the Ponte restaurants. The sister property (Miramar) was closed during our stay but it would not have influenced our 4-Star rating anyway. We were able to discover lots of the Ischia island during our stay and loved the scenery!

Pros: Amazing view for Deluxe room (sea view) Breakfast and lunch was pretty good (lunch was a bit pricey for standard and portion size) Wait staff for breakfast and lunch were attentive. Cons: Firstly, the double bed is 2 single beds pressed together, creating a gap between the two beds. Mattress is very firm, as are pillows. However, our main grievance is that the air conditioning is apparently not functional until mid-May despite this being listed as a service in all rooms with no specification on the website about it being a seasonal service. This issue was very difficult to resolve with staff. Without air conditioning, our room was very warm making it very hard to sleep. We raised this with reception staff and we were told the air conditioning wasn't working for the whole hotel and we were told to open the doors instead. This didn't help much with the heat and let in insects which bit us in the night. The following day we requested a fan for the room, which was provided but clearly very old. On our third night, the fan broke at 2am and we went to request another and were told that they didn't have any more. This then meant we didn't sleep at all on our third night. The next day, we requested that the air conditioning be fixed or we would leave early, not wishing to suffer through another restless and uncomfortable night. The manager explained that the air conditioning does not come on for the whole hotel until mid-May. We remind her that air conditioning is advertised on their website with no seasonal conditions listed. The manager's response was that Italians are used to this heat. She offered dinner for us both as compensation but we declined and requested that the cost of dinner be discounted from our final bill instead, which she did. However, 3 nights of restless sleep for a "5-star hotel" is not good enough. Overall, the hotel is dated and not very well cared for. As others have stated in their reviews, this is most definitely not a 5-star hotel and 300€ a night for this quality is VERY overpriced. It is a real shame as their location is wonderful but there is a severe lack of care in the maintenance of this hotel, and management's dealing of the air conditioning problem was unimpressive.

This hotel is right on the water and the sister hotel provides a private beach. You can’t get a better location. When you get to the beach you can go inside to the bar and order drinks and snacks. They will bring it to you on the beach. The only downside is they don’t come around and ask if you would like anything while you are laying out - every time you have go inside to the bar. This isn’t a huge problem but it’s the first place I’ve stayed where they don’t this so it was a surprise. The breakfast served at Mare Blu is a great way to start the day. Lots of choices and amazing breakfast staff. We fell in love with Carmen and Rosie. The only downside of the breakfast is the eggs - they were more like egg soup then scrambled eggs but that could just be a cultural difference. The room we stayed in was HUGE! The bathroom was a great size as well. The mattress is extremely firm, I’ll even go further, hard. So hard and uncomfortable. But you are there for the experience for Ischia. I did decide that when we come back I’m going to Amazon a mattress pad to the hotel and then just throw it away. The staff at both locations are phenomenal and welcoming. I loved every day spent here and will be coming back.

We just came back from a 7-night stay at the Hotel Mare Blu, and while having an overall positive experience, I wouldn't stay here again. Upon walking into our room, the bathroom was not clean, and the furniture was quite outdated. There was mold in the corner of our bathroom, and the pillows were so flat you might as well not had one. The staff was friendly and polite, and the included breakfast was appreciated. A big issue throughout our stay was that we could only access the WiFi network in our room for two of the seven days of our stay, despite consistently asking the front desk to remedy the issue.
