Parador El Hierro - Valverde

A charming, old-fashioned hotel in an isolated, spectacular location. Food in restaurant is authentic and excellent, even if the service is a bit slow. I stayed in 6 places in El Hierro, and no question this one is the top as regards international service standards. I had a room with a balcony and it was lovely, with the only annoyance for me being that all rooms seem to offer 2 twins beds and none with one double bed, which is pretty common among old-style Spanish hotels.

The Paradores are all different and yet there is a consistency in service, quality, and presentation that is guaranteed. In El Hierro, you will find peace and quiet to the accompaniment of the sea splashing gently on the shore, a shaded tree-lined terrace to pass the hours, and a quality restaurant and friendly bar service. There is nothing to complain of here. Quiet competence and friendliness. The El Hierro Parador is the Canary Islands in a nutshell ... but it's very very far from your usual tourist trap!

I will just say the Parador grounds will, without doubt, soon need serious reconstruction. The sea will destroy much of it within a short time. As a volcanic geomorphologist, I unfortunately know this well.

We stayed there for one night on a 2-day trip to El Hierro and were amazed by the surroundings and the location right in front of the sea in a lovely bay, where we could see the sun rise. The staff is very nice and the food/drink offer great value. The Parador dates from the 70s and could use a bit of refurbishing but on the whole it's well worth a visit.

It is the N-time we have been there. It is the acme of the relax, of contact with nature. Quiet, isolated, only the sea makes a slight noise that relaxes our overwrought nerves. Ideal. Food is superb and all the staff are extremely helpful. Of course it depends upon you that you feel isolated or feel that 'this is exactly what I was looking for'

We stayed for a week and what a find. El Hierro was fabulous as was the hotel. We have been to La Gomera on numerous occasions but never to El Hierro. It was a challenge to get here involving two flights, a taxi transfer between airports and a hire car to the hotel. We arrived very tired but were welcomed in by Joanna, who was excellent throughout our week's stay. She was always willing to chat and always welcomed us back each day and asked us where we had been. The hotel location was excellent, we fell asleep each night to the sound of crashing waves. The bathroom could do with some updating and parts of the hotel could do with some tlc. The food was very good although the menu never changed throughout the week we were there. Overall everything was great and we had a wonderful holiday😃😃😃

This hotel has a lovely location overlooking the sea with the mountains behind. The service here was very good and our meal was the best meal we had had on El Hierro. The pool area was closed for repairs as it looked like it had been hit by a boulder.. We only stayed one night having hiked here from another location. If you stay here ideally you would need a car as there is no a lot to do apart from enjoy the views. We had room 210 which was at the end of the corridor with a sea view. The room was well equipped with a safe, tea & coffee, fridge and a balcony. The decor is a bit tired in places but this seems to add to the charm.

Facilities and site are excellent, but could use an update. Very quiet and relaxing environment. Breakfast good but dinners were poor in quality and choice. Note that the hotel is on a dead end road and one must drive 20-25 minutes up to Valverde to get to any other parts of the island.

Bonito enclave. Todo alrededor rezuma tranquilidad. Merece la pena acercarse y disfrutar del reposo y la calma que transmite este lugar. Así como la isla en general. Sin olvidar que de camino, nada más salir del túnel, podrás ver el famoso Roque de Bonanza.
