We stayed 1 night in one of the Loch Roag upstairs rooms. It was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable with nice linen and towels. The shower was also fine. However, that's about as positive as we can be. Breakfast was average; there were no baked beans, mushrooms or pastries, and a very limited selection of fresh fruit. Pictures for sale in the breakfast room looked faded and certainly the price tags in the corners were very faded. There was a general lounge area without a TV. Unfortunately, our room, and the property in general, was very tired and dated and in need of an overhaul. For the price we paid, we were expecting something more top notch. We have been touring the Outer Hebrides for just over a week, staying in B&Bs, and I'm afraid this was the mot expensive and the least value for money we stayed in.

We arrived in Loch Roag guesthouse by luck… late planning of our Scottish journey made the availability of the room more than challenging. However in this guesthouse there was a family suite just renewed not on the website… so available for us. We stayed there 4 nights and the children were very sad to leave this place. Then it was perfect : the suite has 3 very nice bedrooms and a living room. Beds are comfortable and the location / view is beautiful. The hosts are very warm and helpful. Lewis is unforgettable… and this place too.

The hosts are wonderful people. They were so helpful with any concern we had. They took the time to go over the map with us and sites to see. Loved the breakfasts and dinners as well. Delicious soups! The views were lovely all around us. The location was great. Convenient to travel north and south on the Isle of Lewis. My guess is that as the business grows they will continue work on remodeling the bedrooms. Very happy that we stayed here!

Great breakfast and dinners here. We very much enjoyed the soups here as starters. Citrus haddock was delicious. Grilled salmon with hollandaise sauce was delicious! Staff super helpful and friendly. Would stay here again!

For outdoor people, Loch Roag does not disappoint. It's beautifully situated and conveniently near the Breasaclete bus stop on the W2 line. It's ~ 2 miles by the road from the Callanish sites, allowing for magical chances to see some of the stones in the evenings all by myself. I used Loch Roag as a central location to do day hikes (5-7 miles, rugged terrain, up hill/boggy, boots a must) on the Black Moor, from the Black Houses to Dailbeag Beach, and along the Coastal Trail. All were gorgeous and it was often just me and the sheep and cows. Donald & staff were wonderful. They looked after me, suggested the better places to walk, and even gave me a few rides, which was above and beyond but highly appreciated. Meals were excellent after long days spent walking. BYOB. My room was basic but clean and comfortable. I'd totally go back.
