I chose this location as the pictures looked nice and the location was perfect for me. I checked in and met the manager, who is a nice old guy. His English is quite good. The room The room itself is on the third floor. You walk up a steep narrow staircase and pass several other rooms. My room was number 5 out of 6. It is small, but has everything you need. The bed mattress is a little hard, but I like that and my back felt good after sleeping in it for a few nights. (I have back issues). If you are taller than 6foot, your feet will touch the wall on the other side. I am 6 foot and did a few times, but it was not a problem. The bed does not have sheets or a duvet, it has a blanket that looks like a large towel – which is what you use to sleep under. This was a first for me, but it was fine. There is a small safe in the room which was handy for my camera. There is also air conditioning but when I got to the room, the remote was missing and the guy told me the AC season was over. I told him that I would need it and so he made a phone call and then came back upstairs with the remote. I thought this was a little strange. In the ad, it says AC, so I would suggest to them that they write in the listing that AC will be unavailable from certain times of the year. The weather when I was there was 30 degrees, it was quite hot. I did not use it all the time, but after I came back to the room, to cool it down etc. There is a hair dryer which is very old and when I used it, it made weird noises and I could see sparks inside it, so I did not use it again. The bathroom is adequate but needs a good clean as there is mould in quite a few places. Also dirty under the desk. One day, the manager walked into the room without knocking while I was working on my PC. I was a bit shocked and it was lucky that I was not naked after a shower. I asked him kindly to knock next time. The shower takes a few minutes to get warm water and the pressure is quite bad, but once it is on, it is ok. On the first day I had towels but they were all very small, but I got a normal sized one the next day. They have room tidying daily between 1200-1500. You get two small shower bottles and a one-litre bottle of water on your first day. These are not replenished. Some things to note: Call to prayer The large Sultanahmet Camli mosque is very close and you can see it from the window, so you will hear the call to prayers that happen five times a day starting at 0515. This was not a problem for me, but something to be aware of. I would say that all accommodation in that area would hear it unless it has very thick windows. Most places wouldn’t. Noise from street There is quite a lot of noise from the street below at night and during the day. They are building next door to the hotel, so you will hear that from 0900-1700 and at night, you will hear cars beeping their horns and people returning from being out. This woke me up quite a few times, but not a big problem. Area There are restaur
