Meroddi La Porta Hotel

We stayed in Meroddi la porta 7 nights. Everything was perfect hotel is near Galata, reception was helpful, stuff on breakfast is very nice. I’ve got the cake for my birthday that moved me a lot … until the last day(yesterday). We are not complaining people and we don’t mind little things that have to be improved we didn’t react when cleaning stuff smoke on our terrace (we found a smoked cigarette different from ours in ashtray) and i gave them 10 on Booking that morning before we left the room(deleted later). We were packing our luggage to go home and put our things from deposit box to backpack and left our things in the room and go to breakfast. Someone stolen around 500e (left in wallet like 50e from the bunch of money) from our room and we didn’t see that money missing right away. Only that 30minutes when we were at breakfast we didn’t see our things. He/she was just in time to go to room and find money in backpack. But how he/she know how long we will be gone and where to look??? Because breakfast is one floor up from us( like few seconds away) I don’t know how many people had a key to the room. We have never been robbed. Never had such bad experience. Such a nightmare!!!! Few days earlier, when we walked around the city, someone smoked cigarettes in our terrace( they were different kind from those we had). We tough that it was cleaning lady and we didn’t want to complain. It is not normal thing.

An excellent hotel to stay 5 steps away from Galata tower, very clean and with great breakfast. Despite being next to the centre, the area is very quiet. The staff is really friendly and supportive, ready to help fulfill all your needs. Would definitely recommend

I've been chasing this company for a refund for my 6-night stay for over 1 month now. They turned our Istanbul trip into a nightmare. First, when we arrived at La Porta they promptly told us they moved us to another property without our permission because they overbooked. I booked La Porta specifically because it has a rooftop breakfast. They moved us to Galata Mansion, which doesn't have a rooftop, and stuck us in a room with a broken air conditioner and no exterior windows. We had to leave the hotel after 1 night because it was too hot to sleep, and Galata Mansion was also overbooked and no other rooms were available. They promised us a refund, and have said multiple times that it has been sent while later admitting it hasn't. STILL NO REFUND. Stay was supposed to be September 26 - Oct 2.

Location location location, breakfast room is lovely, the staff are nice and there are some nice touches. Great shower and everything is clean. On arrival in the dark I did struggle to find the hotel a little bit, it's a bit of a back street but literally next to all that's happening and a good area.

Meroddi la porta attracted me with the price, the location, and the recent renovations, and we were wowed by our experience there. If you can, ask for a 4th floor room with a balcony. You will be away from the street noise and will have a view over the old city. The location is perfect, as you can walk or take a tram easily to most tourist places, and take the metro to the airport, and also have access to the better food and nightlife of the Galata / Taksim/ Karikoy neighborhoods. The food and view from breakfast is amazing, as well. Others have commented on the less than desirable immediate garbage collection point in the alley in front of the hotel, but we never felt unsafe. Tbe desk people and kitchen staff were always friendly and helpful as well. 110% recommend!

The staff was very friendly and helped us with words in Turkish! Ali at the front desk was very helpful and nice. The location was fantastic with a corner store on the corner, Galata Tower 2 min away and tons of restaurants/transportation options. The only thing is it gets noisy around midnight, when garbage gets collected in the street below.
