Pumilio Mountain & Ocean Hotel

We only stayed one night here as we were just passing through Jacó on our way further south. We received a very friendly welcome on a very rainy night. The rooms are a bit outdated BUT the shower was amazing - super powerful and warm. We felt that the room was clean but there were some mouldy parts around the patio doors simply because the entire area is quite wet because its in the forest. Our kids loved the pool so much - they went straight out there and made friends with the Costa Rican kids playing in there. The pool was right at the entrance to our patio, which was helpful! We ordered take out food through the restaurant which was easy ($7 delivery charge). Breakfast was lovely. Nearby there is a waterfall and monkey tour which is easy to access. We did the super short tour as we had to leave to get to our next location but it was good fun.

The hotel looks amazing online, but when you arrive it looks like a cheap motel. The room was dirty - the sheets were stained, there were food crumbs on the bed. Plus, TONS of bugs. The hotel will tell you that it is designed to let nature come into your living area. That means that rather than having proper sealing, they won’t fix the holes and gaps.

I am not a fan of the Jaco area but we decided to stay at Pumilio for the easy access to day trips! This is truely a great hotel... The rooms are spacios and clean. The pool area is quiet and right in front of your room. I enjoyed having a fridge and area to a make snacks after tours. It was only a 4km drive to the center of Jaco. The staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast is delicious!! You can easily get to Playa Blanca and Playa Mantas also.. I highly recommend is you are travel with friends or as a family!

The hotel could be more honest about the distance to the beach (which is approx. 15 minutes by car and not 5 as stated on their website) and about the their rooms. They are advertising some rooms as newly refurbished which is not the case. The hotel is located in a small village nearby a forest. You can hear and see birds like macaws. In the forest are waterfalls which can be explored via a guided tour. The breakfast is very good, they prepare eggs, pancakes, waffles upon request freshly. The hotel pays a lot of attention to security, they are closely monitoring who is coming and leaving. Considering Jaco‘s night life this is a big benefit. The attitude of certain members of the staff could be improved. Sometimes I felt that they are paying more attention to their phones as to the guest. Isaac was very attentive and supportive.

Fantastic beachside hotel. Very clean rooms, comfortable bed, and friendly, helpful staff. Free delicious breakfast included at beachside on-site, open-air restaurant. Beautiful sunset views. Would stay at this hotel above others in the area. Friendly staff and cleanliness are huge with me.

So, so nice. We booked Di Suite and it was as good as you could imagine. Used hotel delivery service and was so easy and relaxed - and tasty. The room is the best so far in Costa Rica. Happy! Views great from room, and very friendly fellow residents. Loved it!

People at hotel Pumilio were kind and nice. The hotel was a true fantasy combined and surrounded with nature. The food was amazing. I still remember those pancakes! The tour they provided during our whole stay was fantastic. The best visit we made was Isla Tortuga.

Nice gesture for my birthday, bottle of champagne and a cake. Beautiful surroundings well maintained. Awesome awesome breakfast. Parking safe. Good price for the value. Great place. Ice cold a/c and hot strong shower.

We had planned to stay two nights, but due to street noise, no hot water and a television that did not work, we asked to check out after one night. They said that would be fine and would not charge us for the second night. We asked for a receipt which they said they would email, but never did. When we received our credit card statement, they did charge us for the second night. We made multiple attempts to contact them with no response. We brought all issues to them the first night. 1. We asked to be moved to a quieter location and were told no other rooms were available. 2. They told us they would send someone to fix the TV, but no one ever came. 3. They told us they would fix the no hot water issue. They never did, so we took cold showers. These are the primary reasons we left early. In addition to the above issues, the hot tub on our patio was filthy, although we couldn't use it anyway with no hot water. Also, the bathroom was not very clean. The next morning, the person at the front desk told us the manager agreed, and we would not be charged. Unless we were going to be charged for a second night, why would we stay another night when none of these problems were addressed?
