Jaffna Heritage Hotel

The best hotel in Jaffna! Spotlessly clean, tidy, and perfect for families. It’s alcohol-free and serves only vegetarian food, ensuring a peaceful and inclusive environment. Just a 5-minute walk to the iconic Nallur Kovil, its location is ideal. During my six-day stay, I enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet featuring delicious Jaffna cuisine with a great variety of dishes. A special thanks to the chef for bringing back the nostalgic flavors of my childhood! I must particularly commend Vijaya and Pradeep—two outstanding staff members who were incredibly professional, helpful, and always greeted us with warm smiles. Their service truly stood out. I was also deeply impressed by their prompt and caring response when I had an accident at the pool. They immediately provided first aid and medication, ensuring my comfort and well-being. I highly recommend this hotel for its exceptional service, wonderful staffs, and memorable hospitality.

Dear Readers, 1. I and my wife stayed at this hotel for two nights (07 to 09 Dec 2024). 2. I had booked this hotel through Ms CEYLO TRAVELS,COLOMBO as part of our 14 Nights 15 Days itinerary. "My decision to utilise the services proved to be a big mistake and in fact a disaster." 3. I was apprised by Ceylo Travels that it is a 4-star Heritage property and it is a pure vegetarian and Alcohol free hotel which was not a big/significant issue in view of my personal habits of drinking and eating. 4. Good Points. a. The hotel Front Office (FO) is quite positive, responsive and cooperative. b. The room was quite clean and tidy. c. The hotel is located only 600 Metres away from the famous Nallur Kandaswamy t. temple, although it did NOT matter that much to us since we had dedicated Cab hired for the entire trip. d. The hotel does have a mini swimming pool in front of the FO. 5. Bad Points/Detailed Description. a. By no standards, this hotel qualifies to be graded as 4-Star or even a proper 3-Star. It is equivalent of a mid segment economy lodge hotel in India. b. A similar room with same amenities would cost only Rs 3,000/- to 3,500/- INDIAN Rupees anywhere in India. I state this with full conviction and sense of responsibility. c. The hotel does not have a proper Lobby/seating area near its Front Office of a 4- Star hotel. d. The photo given in the profile on website is misleading since it is that of a family room of 3 beds located on ground floor. The normal 2 person room allotted to us was on the first floor which was. smaller and it did not have a balcony like the Ground Floor rooms. e. The standard of toiletaries (shampoo ,conditioner and body gel) was poor and substandard. 6. Food. a. The standard of food in terms of variety and quality is VERY POOR and is in fact awful. b. One has to choose from a menu with little or NO worthwhile choice. I am attaching the image of the dinner manu for both nights. c. The breakfast was served as buffet on both days and the variety and standard is very poor. d. The basic amenity like FOOD WARMERS for keeping served food WARM was not there. (Photo attached). 7. Feedback Form. The FO produced an Old Visitor Book when I asked for feedback form to render a meaningful feedback which could be utilised by the management for the improvement in future. 8. Summary. A. This "so called heritage" hotel is at best 3-star standard and is highly overrated in the reviews. I assume the visitors don't have patience and inclination to write a thorough, realistic and comprehensive review. B. I would also conclude that I had made a huge mistake by booking my 14 nights tour to Sri Lanka through Ms CEYLO TRAVELS,COLOMBO. This company is into excessive profiteering and is making a fool of the Foreigner Customers like us after taking 10% advance before reaching Sri Lanka and collecting balance 90% in CASH (US

Nice place to stay in the Jaffna peninsula. Good and clean place. Food also tasty. Exllent customer care. Woking distance to Nalluer temple and Rio ice cream.Staff are very kind and friendly Very close to access Most of heritage places. Highly recommended to everyone

This was a gem of a find. Amazing people who were super friendly and accommodating. It was like a home away from home. The food was amazing, and they catered to our respective requirements for each meal. We would definitely return again to stay with them. It's near key attractions and a lovely local shop nearby with good coffee.

We stayed for two nights and were extremely happy and satisfied with our experience. Vijay, who manages the place, was incredibly helpful, providing five-star communication through WhatsApp from the moment I inquired about the booking. The property perfectly matches the photos posted on all booking websites—no surprises or disappointments. It is conveniently located in the center of Jaffna, making it easy to arrange rides via the PickMe app. It’s also within walking distance of the Nallur Temple, which was very convenient. The WiFi was excellent, fast, and reliable throughout our stay. The food was strictly vegetarian but absolutely delicious, with plenty of choices. Though we didn’t get a chance to swim, the pool looked very inviting. The place is beautifully decorated, and I would give five stars for cleanliness. The staff was polite and accommodating, making our stay even more pleasant. Without a doubt, this will be my first choice when I return to Jaffna!
