Barceló Montecastillo Golf

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel, truly one of the best experiences we’ve had, and we can’t wait to come back! Our room was spotless, spacious, and well thought out, with plenty of storage and a wonderfully comfortable bed (with a pillow menu for extra choice). Bathrobes, slippers, and high-quality bathroom amenities were provided. The huge bathroom was a real highlight, separate loo with bidet, a walk-in shower, a bathtub with overhead shower, and double sinks. My only small gripe in the room was that it was tricky to find a nearby plug socket for the kettle/coffee machine as they have short cords, but we made it work! The adult pool area was outstanding! Spotlessly clean, plenty of loungers, and lots of shaded areas which were perfect for the very warm weather. We stayed half-board and were blown away by the buffet dinner. It was fresh, varied, and honestly the best we’ve had in a long time. Breakfast was equally fabulous, with something for everyone. The staff deserve a special mention: from reception to the restaurant, housekeeping to the lifeguards, every single person we met was warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful. An exceptional hotel that delivers on comfort, service, and food, highly recommended!

Dear sir / Madam This hotel is fabulous & what makes it really superb are simply all the staff. Their dedication to details, helpfulness ,smiles & hard work an absolute joy. They are truly, what will make your stay superb, we have been coming for at least 6yrs and do other golfing breaks elsewhere but no place ,the ambience, food ,golf & all additional facilities are superb. Hats of to all the staff ,thank you so much for msking our stay for 2 week a year for 6yrs a joy

The hotel reception and golf reception staff were very helpful. The houses are very spacious but probably ready for refurbishment. Outsides certainly need repainting. The condition of the golf course is improving.

This a very much looked forward to golf trip, and sadly the hotel failed to meet expectation. On arrival we were shown to our rooms which were in the middle of a building site. The accommodation was extremely tired. Wallpaper was peeling off the wall in my room with a chair paced to hide mould in the corner. The patio was cracked with grass growing through and the plant troughs separating the patio areas were full of dead plants and weeds - definitely not 5*. However, the food was outstanding with so much choice, all fresh and very well cooked. On to the golf - 6 hour rounds in 30+ degree heat is never acceptable! Over four rounds of golf not one was under 5 hours. There were not enough buggies even though these were preordered and prepaid months ago. We were having to wait for them to come off the course and consequently missing tee times. The course itself was ok - but not the premium course we expected. Would I come back? Definitely not!

This was our second visit to Montecastillo Golf and it was every bit as good as the first. We were a group of eight golfers and loved every moment of our stay. This time we were given bungalow-style accommodation away from the main hotel, which turned out to be perfect for us. It was spacious, quiet and very comfortable, though carrying all the golf clubs back and forth was a bit awkward but the reception staff arranged to run us down in a buggy. There are some steep stairs on the way up to the main hotel, and one of our group did take a tumble early one morning when they weren’t lit, but there are alternative routes including a ramp which makes access much easier. The staff throughout the resort were friendly, attentive and always happy to help. The rooms were spotless, nicely furnished and had great air conditioning – very welcome after a long round in the sun. We had breakfast there each morning and one evening meal, and both were excellent with plenty of choice and great quality food. The real highlight, though, is the golf. The course is beautifully maintained, challenging but fair, and offers something for every level of golfer. The practice facilities are superb, with a full range, putting greens, and several short game areas including bunkers. The team in the pro shop are fantastic – really helpful and welcoming – and it’s handy that you can store your clubs there in lockers instead of lugging them back to your room. Montecastillo is also in a great location, just 10 minutes from Jerez Airport (we flew Jet2 from Birmingham and returned via Leeds Bradford). On our last trip we flew into Seville, which was about an hour’s drive. The local area has plenty to see and do, and the hotel is right next to the Jerez race track, which made it extra lively as MotoGP was on during our stay. You can take a 10-15 minute taxi into the centre of Jerez. Taxis were easy to order at the hotel reception and to get in the town on the way back. Overall, another brilliant experience. Great hotel, great staff and an outstanding golf course. We’ll definitely be booking again for next year.
