Al Andalus is not without its faults. So let's get them out of the way. Our room was missing a shower door, the air conditioning had a mind of its own and at times seemed to be possessed by a poltergeist, the rooms are small... and that's it. But. There are two lovely courtyards, and the whole place exudes charm. The staff are fantastic – really friendly and helpful and on hand 24 hours a day. You can't beat the location – five minutes of walking takes you right up to Plaza Arenal, and you're also close to some of Jerez's lesser-known gems such as Gitarron and Pasteleria Jesus. And the killer is the price. It's unbelievably cheap, something you can't ignore now that Jerez is becoming The Place To Go. There are better hotels in Jerez, and many of them cost four or five times what you'll pay here. It's a genuine gem of a place, and you can either grumble about its limitations or accept them and treat it as a place to sleep when you're not out exploring this magical town.
