The Residence

We loved everything about this five star luxury haven. The decor, the staff, the food, the ambiance, the spa, the comfort. What a beautiful and memorable entree to South Africa! We were truly sorry to leave when it was time to go and will make it a must in every future S Africa visit!!

This was my second time visiting the residence spa and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The ambience, the views, the attention to detail with the products used and not forgetting to mention the magic and experienced hands of sonthini ( by far one of the best therapist I have come across in my 3 weeks travelling South Africa)! I was left feeling energised, invigorated and ready for my return to this beautiful oasis in December of this year. Nothing but exceptional

We really appreciated the boutique and quirky ambience of the hotel. Clearly the hotel has grown organically and the layout is a little complex which is interesting to uncover. Each space is full of character and very comfortable. Staff are charming and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed in the Pool Villa one night which we loved, due to a leak we were moved to the Madiba Suite for our second night which has a huge private deck. Both suites were lovely, comfortable and well designed. Spa treatments were very good. We would happily stay again and recommend.

I wanted to first write that this is the last stop on a trip that brings me to my 134th country, and my 31st in AfricaZ I have a home in Los Angeles and a home in New York City and like to think I stay at some of the finer establishments in the world. I say this without exaggeration your hotel in South Africa is the finest, most beautiful, most welcoming and relaxing hotel I’ve ever stayed in . This is the singular most complete and friendly, attentive , kind and funny hotel staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing Nosipho Sam Thomas Layton Bongni Zeto Martin Are of my favorites and I do not know the rest But I do remember each of their smiles and kind words and incredible memories . Kat was the most incredible , thoughtful , witty , charismatic engaged conversationalist. He also was a phenomenal guide around the neighborhood and town . Sam is one of my all-time favorites at any establishment . She made me laugh and joke and was absolutely a dream . Your rooms are truly remarkable in their comfort and beauty. I loved the small touches, the artwork, the beautiful furniture, the design and even the balconies in the bedding and what is easy for hotels to slack off on. Your restaurant was simply exquisite for both dinner and breakfast and I feel like I am in a palace.. tonight at 5 PM when I leave for Los Angeles I will truly be sad to say goodbye to such a beautiful place that really holds my heart Even the gym was phenomenal , surrounded by pristine landscaped gardens and beautiful outdoor furniture Regards, Adam Summer

After a long trip to South Africa from Australia, it was wonderful to arrive at such a lovely hotel. This place is charming, warm and inviting, the rooms were beautifully decorated and the restaurant served fantastic food for dinner and breakfast. Was quite convenient to the airport, a great choice for a luxurious stay in Johannesburg!

One of my favorite hotels in the world! Don't think twice about staying in this luxury gem in Johannesberg. Perfect doesn't even do it justice. When you get in the hotel you will not ever want to leave. Rooms, service, amenities, food all a 12 on a 10 point scale!
