Frühstückspension Bergheil

Had to book super last minute - host was super lovely, and very accommodating with my weird timings whilst doing some ski exams! Cannot recommend this place more, would love to come back if I find myself back up the Kitzsteinhorn!

Stayed here as part of a Crystal package. Arrived quite late but received a lovely friendly welcome from Horst who is one of the nicest hosts we’ve stayed with in Austria (we’ve visited a lot). The pension is perfectly located - bus stops and ski hire 2/3 min walk, bars and restaurants 2-10 min walk but in a quiet location. We had a good sized room with a balcony. Hallway with wardrobes and a safe and off it a large bathroom and bedroom. The beds were comfy and the furniture seemed quite new. The bathroom needs updated as there was a shower over the bath but no screen or curtain. However it was all very clean and our bin was emptied every day. Breakfast was from 7-10am which we were pleased about as we like an early start on a ski hol. The breakfast room could get quite busy as it’s small and the pension seemed full but we only waited for a table on one occasion. Breakfast inc tea, coffee & herbal teas, cornflakes and muesli, yoghurt, fruit, Semmel rolls, toast, cheese, tomatoes, boiled eggs, jans, spreads etc. Horst worked very hard at breakfast making sure nothing ran out, fetching drinks, clearing tables etc. and always greeted us with a cheery good morning. Would definitely stay here again

Great location. Village D bus 50m to right. Glacier and Zell am See bus stop 100m to left. Plenty of excellent local restaurants walkable. Room was clean, warm, spacious and quiet, if a little old fashioned. Breakfast was continental - range of cheeses, meats, boiled eggs on request, breads and cereals. Ski and boot room small but never busy. Sauna was available on request but we didn't try it. Owner was very helpful and pleasant.

We booked through Crystal Ski for Christmas 2022: -Super welcoming owner -Cosy rooms with plenty of storage, great showers -Basic breakfast options but we expected this -Quiet at night, but only a short walk to all restaurants and bars -Good view of the glacier ski region from balcony -Boot & ski storage available, but we hired a locker by the Maiskogel gondala for the week - less than 10 min walk from Bergheil. You can either get the Maiskogel gondala and 3K connection to the glacier, or get a bus to Kitzsteinhorn then gondola up from there (less scenic but overall quicker!)
