Maringi Sumba

We loved every second of our stay at Maringi. The accommodation in the unique bamboo pavilions, the organic and mostly self-grown food, and the services were extraordinary. We were amazed by all the details, from the adorable towel animals to the birthday surprise cake and singing. It was truly marvelous at Maring’s! If you are in Sumba, try to stay a few days at Maringi. It is totally worth it and highly recommended.

Maringi Sumba is one of the best experiences we as a family have ever had - both as a holiday and cultural experience. We are a family of five (parents + kids aged 7, 11 and 14) visiting Sumba as part of island hopping in Indonesia for a month. We spent three nights here. The place, food and hospitality itself is excellent, but what really makes this place stand out is the warmth, skills and smiles of all the students. We had countless great experiences that we will remember for ever. The island itself is worth visiting as there are a lot of interesting cultural experiences (local villages) and beautiful sights, but we would happily visit Sumba again just to stay at Maringi. It has our highest recommendations.

Very polite and prompt communication prior to arriving which is greatly appreciated seeing as it is rather remote location to be travelling to. From arrival you are treated with great hospitality and any questions/bookings/requests are handled with efficiency and confirmation prompt. Accomodation is super chic, comfortable and i was not left wanting. Plenty of info on website and in-room folder as well as access to whatsapp thread so u can always be connected if u want to be. 4 x of the best firm pillows at a hotel i have experienced. A lovely turn-down service (neaten up the room and a surprise on the bed!) i had forgotten Was a hotel service - it is a safe and trusting environment. I attended in low season and felt like i was waited on hand and foot which was a new experience but very welcome! Students and staff are genuinely lovely, warm and give you space to relax but also ready to engage with you if u wish. Drivers are amazingly talented should you wish to book a tour of the island, you will be comfortable and feel looked after as they whip u around the island to absorb the culture with your knowlegeable and friendly student tour guide - your friend for the day. I loved my time here and feel hopeful that my tourism dollars may be put towards a better future for one or some.

It was wonderful to experience the work of the Sumba Hospitality Foundation first hand. The students are so dedicated and so eager to serve and please the clients. They do a great job. The food is excellent as were the bamboo chalets complete with outdoor shower. I also had a spa treatment which was amazing. My only tip would be schedule your visit when it is not quite so hot.

The best hotel I have been in all indonesia. The service is completely outstanding and go beyond expectations. They are very attentive but without being disruptive. I only have positive words to say about them. You can tell they are eager to learn and make you feel very welcome. The facilities are so beautiful and I wish i could have stayed more days.

The Maringi Resort by SHF provides a great experience for guests! It is inspiring to see the students from all over Sumba take charge of your journey and to provide the best rooms, food, housekeeping by going the extra mile. You see the attention and care going into this place and the heart that all students put in. The bamboo rooms are beautifully designed and very comfortable. The food is good throughout for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went on one trip around the island visiting the mangroves in Pero, Weekuri Lagoon and the traditional villages. Though this was a great experience, the trip offer could be more extensive. For example: we asked to go to a waterfall that was not part of a pre-arranged tour and this was not possible.
