Mnarani Beach Cottages

My daughter and I went to Mnarani Beach cottages, for five days. Overall it was passable. But do not stay in the Fisherman house, Dolphin rooms, if you are a light sleeper. At 430am, every morning, a water truck arrives and water is pumped into a tank- so its 70 minutes of a horrible 12W generator sound. It was clean and the location quite good. The beach is very narrow which is great as you cannot get harassed as much by the locals, who all have an agenda. The deck and pool are lovely. The restaurant is over priced and the drinks too are rather expensive. Breakfast was a C-. You cannot pay in shillings everything is put on a tab and you have to pay an inflated rate in US$ at check out. American prices for African quality. Walking into the village is easy and safe. We walked to restaurants 35 minutes away with no drama, day and night.

The place is a paradise. located at the very north of the island, next to the lighthouse. Very nice setting on the beach with lush vegetation and a nice swimming pool. Superb view from the room (we had a king bed room in the new building on the right side - I guess that's their best rooms at the moment). Room was very nice and spacious, bed very comfy, balcony superb. Breakfast was good, staff was very friendly. Restaurant was ok, a bit pricey tho. So just keep in mind that the place is a bit far from everything else turistic in Nungwi - we had a scooter, but without it we'd have to take a tuk tuk or walk a long way everytime we wanted to go someplace else - so if you're gonna mostly be just chilling here it's perfect, but if you want to be more in the centre of everything, it's better to find a place on the western part of Nungwi. The first nigh we got two single beds instead of a queen bed which we booked so we had to change the next day. In the next room our phone wasn't working and they weren't able to fix it for 3 days. Restaurant and coffee was a bit pricey. Exchange rate (2800 TZS for 1 USD) was unfair (everywhere else it was 2700) and credit card surcharge was 3% (could be lower). Overall we still had a great experience and would stay here again.

Such a spacious room and beach front. The spa ladies were fantastic and my wife's facial was good. It was a really relaxing way to spend our two nights there. Make use of the tours to get out of the resort. The beach isn't really a swimming beach and the food was average but there are plenty of options outside the resort.

Lovely resort! I had the BEST massage at the Cinnamon Spa! My room was gorgeous with a lovely view of the Indian Ocean. The staff was very friendly. I also used their laundry service & was extremely satisfied! This hotel was selected for me as part of an Intrepid tour, but I would choose it again if traveling to Zanzibar on my own.

The service is terrible. Except two - Zubair, a waiter, and Abra, the driver - rest were inhospitable, moving around mechanically. Management was arbitrary and arrogant in their responses. The room was big but neither comfortable, nor well-appointed, nor was the view good; and this was the costliest of rooms there.

The place is very tired and is not 4 star. There is no beach to walk on to unless the tide goes out and then quite rocky and seaweed. It just decking with sun loungers or a pool to sunbathe. The pool was tired too. The food in the restaurant was great. Shower and aircon were hopeless for what you pay. Saying that this is a management problem as I have to say that the staff were absolutely superb.

I encourage you to stay at Mnarani Beach Hotel when you're at zanzibar,located a Nungwi. Beautiful view,safe place, good food, the pool, everething was amazing Beautiful place. Personally, I particularly appreciated the staff, especially Mr Andrew at the bar and the reception

Loved the place, quite, relaxing and beautiful, the rooms are very neat, the food are well cooked and the staff are friendly and committed and I will never forget the massage i had there i felt amazingly relaxed. All in all we had an amazing memorable weekend . Mnarani we will surely come back
