The Sparkling Turtle Backpackers Hostel

It's a real hidden gem ! I usually don't write reviews on this site but I created my account to tell about my amazing experience in the Sparkling Turtle ▫️ highly professional and welcoming team who make you feel home Mr Ajeet, the hostel owner, is one of the warmest and deepest people I have ever met. He's so caring, he even picked me up from the bus stand at night, and he's very attentive and wise ▫️Everything is made with love in this brand new building Every detail in the hostel has been carefully taken into consideration to create the perfect atmosphere for guests,  from the stylish design and decorations with a deep meaning to the super comfortable beds, mats and slippers ▫️ Location and breathtaking views It's located  in walking distance to the main road, Swayambhu bus stand, shops and restaurants, famous attractions like the Buddha park, Swayambhu and Monkey temple, The Single Tree, Tergar monastery etc, and at the same time it's a quiet place, on a hillside, so you can enjoy the stunning city views and good sleep ▫️ delicious and beautiful food Every meal and even just a cup of tea or coffee is made and served with love and a bright smile by Sandesh, the owner's cheerful assistant, who's always in the hostel and who can quickly solve any problem ▫️ Safety for female solo travellers I was feeling very safe and relaxed there. Didn't even want to leave the place Thank you guys so much I'll definitely stay in the Sparkling Turtle again and will recommend it to other travellers!

I really enjoyed my stay there, it was the first time I felt really good and safe in Kathmandu and had the best sleep ever cause it’s in a nice quiet neighbourhood. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms have a high standard compared to other places I stayed at. I got all the help I needed (recommendations, bus reservation,..) and the family of the owner is very kind and helpful. Would definitely go there again, next time I’m in Kathmandu!

My stay at The Sparkling Turtle Hotel was truly special. From the warm welcome to the cozy atmosphere, everything felt just right. The host and their family went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and memorable. They helped me plan my trip, arranged a scooter and bike for exploring, and shared great tips about the city’s hidden spots and local culture. It made my adventure so much easier and more enjoyable. I also learned about the turtle’s symbolism in Nepali culture. The host explained how the turtle represents safety, stability, and grounding – qualities that perfectly reflect the peaceful and welcoming vibe of the hotel. It was fascinating to see how this cultural meaning was woven into the hotel’s theme. I highly recommend The Sparkling Turtle Hotel to anyone visiting the area. It’s not just a place to stay – it’s an experience filled with warmth, culture, and great memories. Thank you, and I hope to return one day!

This hotel is a true gem in Kathmandu. It is incredibly clean, peaceful, and affordably priced. The location is strategically very convenient Swayambhu is just nearby. Other parts of the city are also easily accessible. The view from the window is simply breathtaking—you can see the city of Kathmandu beneath your feet, with mountains visible on the horizon. The owner is an incredibly kind person who is always ready to help with any questions. I highly recommend staying at this hotel ❤️🙏

Ajeet is an amazing host. Sandesh is a great cook. I felt happy, calm, secure throughout my stay. I highly recommend this hostel for an affordable, serene and happy stay. Breakfast was amazing and Ajeet was super helpful in exploring rest of Nepal.

I planned to spend the night here after arriving in Kathmandu, and the next day find something closer to the center… But as you understand, I stayed here until the end of my stay in Kathmandu There were several reasons for this First, the view The view is a separate conversation, you need to see it live in order to feel the flavor, but I promise few people will be left indifferent Secondly, comfort The rooms are clean, cozy, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming Thirdly, excellent prices I can't help but mention that the price per day cost me 1050 rupees, including breakfast, without breakfast - 800 rupees, but believe me - these breakfasts are worth it! And of course the final and most important reason why I stayed is how the owner Adit and his assistant Sandish treat this place and how they treat their guests.. I had a feeling that I had come to stay with my distant Nepalese relatives During my stay at the hostel, I became very ill and spent the whole day lying in the room and practically could not get up (anyone traveling alone should understand what it means to get sick in a foreign country is not the most pleasant situation) So Adit and Sandesh did everything to make me feel at home, including going to get me medicines, fruits, taking things to the laundress, etc. I put a solid five, one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in P.s. Oh, these breakfasts from Sandesh… Try them out for sure
