Fern Grotto Inn

Hard to put into words just how thoughtful Paul and his team are. No stone left unturned in this place; they literally thought of everything for their guests' comfort. We stayed a week and were so happy to return to this sanctuary every night after adventuring around Kauai. From our arrival finding relaxing music playing and cold beers in the fridge to our last evening reflecting on a perfect vacation while listening to the breeze blow through the leaves of the starfruit tree outside our window, we were so happy we chose the Fern Grotto Inn.

My husband and I stayed at Fern Grotto Inn on our weeklong trip to Kauai, and we loved our stay. We stayed in the Garden cottage, which was thoughtfully appointed with everything we needed, down to a flashlight on our room key for coming home in the dark and a clothesline for hanging our bathing suits to dry after a day at the beach. Paul and his team clearly put a lot of love and care into this establishment. The grounds were beautiful, too. We also appreciated Fern Grotto Inn’s proximity to restaurants and grocery stores in Wailua/Waipouli/Kapa’a, and that its eastside location meant we never had too long of a drive to sights on the north shore and the south shore. We would highly recommend staying here!

This is truly unique and wonderful place! Centrally located, very well maintained, super clean and cozy! Room is very thoughtfully decorated, nice furniture, kitchen is fully stuffed - everything in good working condition as well. Super convenient access to Wailua river, free kayaks / SUP / snorkeling equipment / bikes / coolers - really everything one can wish for while on Hawaii. Paul (the host) was super responsive and very quick with whatever requests we had. Reasonably priced as well. We are very happy with out stay and hope to come back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Fern Grotto Inn. We were contacted about our visit as it got closer with some instructions and directions so everything went super smooth when we arrived. It only took us about 10 minutes to get from the airport to the Fern Grotto Inn. When we arrived we instantly were happy with the choice we made to stay here. We were welcomed by receiving a nice plate of fresh fruit and some goodies in our refrigerator. The cottage had everything we wanted and more. It was a nice size cottage, very clean, modern and central to many things that we had intended to explore. The Fern Grotto had available, for their guests to use, Kayaks and Bikes, as well as other equipment. This was super convenient and a bonus to our stay. The convenience of a small kitchen and eating area was very useful, the king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom a nice size. There are roosters & hens that roam the island and this was no different at the Fern Grotto Inn. They don't bother you but did tend to wake us up more than we liked but it wouldn't keep us from staying there again & sure we would experience it at other vacationing locations.

It was perfect in every aspect for us! Very clean and well organized and nicely decorated room Somewhat of a older Hawaii feel, yet it had everything to accommodate your needs wether you are cooking or barbecuing to eating out locally. Nice garden surroundings. Especially enjoyed the kayaks up the river.

I can't say enough about this unit. Super clean. The attention to details, they thought of everything! Nice BBQ to use, fully stocked kitchen. Pick your morning fruit! Location was so convenient. I almost hate to share such a great place haha.
