Hotel Old Monk

Though the old monk may be a hotel but it is truly a wonderful home stay with great service and personal attention by the owners Rana and Yangchen. We were treated to amazing good food including ******* speciality Thukpa that Yangchen specially made for us. Rooms are pretty comfortable and have amazing views of the mountains. We had fun evenings with them sitting around the wood fired hot stove and marvelous discussion about local customs, culture, spiti sights. I highly recommend it.

We booked room in this Hotel from 5th~7th June through Agoda which was Free Cancellation till 3rd June. Just after booking property started asking for depositing 30% advance. We paid 8500 (40%) and property confirmed the booking. After a couple of weeks later they started saying we need to deposit 50% of the total amount which we refused to pay based on the discussion with Agoda. On 1st June,property contacted us informing there is no room available and offered us to transfer some Unknown property. We told them we will continue with the booking if they provide us the room in the original hotel. On 2nd June, property cancelled the booking and we need to search for alternative by ourselves. For last 50 days we are chasing the property for the refund and they are not answering the call

Er was keus voor kamers aan de voorkant of achterkant, wij kozen (voor) straatkant. Standaard kamers, geen flesje drinkwater op de kamer, beperkte wifi. Het lijkt erop dat de Old Monk vertrokken is, en een aantal jongeren schijnt het hoptel te runnen, het lijkt erop dat ze niet gewend zijn aan westerse bezoekers. Ontbijt of dinner kun je van te voren reserveren. Het is circa 5 min lopen naar de leuke markt, restaurants of koffie shops. Ik zal hier zeker terug komen.
