The Royal Oak Hotel and Restaurant

We stayed in the hotel , unfortunately the hot water only came out boiling hot in the shower and couldn’t be adjusted. We also had no toilet paper , and the beds are extremely hard. The food menu in restaurant is extremely limited . We were aware the hotel had just recently re opened but did raise our complaint to the management, who offered us a reduced rate for our next day. To be honest, we were not going to make this offer up as felt we should have been compensated on the £600 we had spent with the hotel already , however a couple of months later decided due to the close proximity to where we were visiting , to take the hotel up on the offer as perhaps they had over come their teething problems. We phoned the hotel directly to book however the staff in reception said all bookings must be done online, which we did , and booked 3 rooms. I then emailed the hotel to ask how they wanted to work the price reduction and was told as it had previously had such a bad stay and given a bad review they were cancelling my bookings . I would like to clarify I had never left a bad review in any public domain until now as find this incredibly poor business and I now have to wait 5 working days for my refund of 3 rooms.

We arrived Saturday lunchtime to a very warm welcome from Karen and Richard for a two night stay to discover we had messed up the booking dates. Karen helped us find alternative accommodation for the Saturday night which was functional and allowed us to have breakfast on Sunday morning. Sunday night we stayed in their pub/hotel and they gave us an upgrade at no extra cost.Sunday roast was plentiful and very tasty washed down with a couple of local ales and very reasonable prices all round. Do give this establishment a try as they have took on this wonderful old building and have promising plans for the future.

Excellent all round. Staff very professional and friendly. Easy comprehansive check in. Clean and comfortable. Excellent food.

We stayed only 1 x night and couldn't be happier. The room was very comfortable and appointed. Dinner was delicious with a good choice on the menu, and there was a really nice atmosphere in the pub, which had outside dining available too. The owners were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great place. Lovely cosy stay in a very nice part of Cheshire. Stay couldn't do enough for you and the food was amazing.
