Stayed with my mum for a 5 day break to visit the gap of dunloe and other walking spots, location for the gap was very good with amazong views of the mountains from the b&b and a great pub just over a 5min walk, we came slightly before season so unfortunately 2nights of our 4 the pub wasn't serving food so John the host ever so kindly dropped us to another nearby restaurant called the golden nugget, huuuge portions of food and fairly priced also is in sync with the days that Kate Kearney doesn't do food so worked out well. About 8min car ride to killarney and would suggest if doing this frequently then to hire a car as we ended paying a few taxis 20 to 25 euro each way! Min of 45 euro in a taxi from Kerry airport which is 25mins but cheaper if getting the bus to killarney bus depot 5euro each and then taxi from there! The b&b is remote for purpose of being situated for the gap walk so be aware of this and stock up if needing supplies beforehand. John and Nora are lovely hosts with a wide knowledge of the area and willing to help out and are around for any questions or concerns. Breakfast is served in a lovely decorated room with hot croissants and contential choices to start the day. John also does the jaunting car ride with 1 of his own horses called Nelly for 60 euro (for 2) great experience and def recommended for the gap as it is a strenuous walk if on foot, we walked from a point to lord Brandon's cottage which was sadly not as anticipated nore of a grab and go place but again maybe was due to being out of season and if honest maybe not worth the walk again it's just as beautiful walking to the point of the black valley and returning to kates cottage for hot food options and live music which is a great vibe! The walk back from Brandon's took 2hrs 34mins and was very steep and tough going so be prepared. Thank you John and Nora l, myself and Wendy thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you :)
