Best Western Hibiscus Motel

After retiring and becoming Permanent Florida residents in late January 2025, we decided to celebrate my Wife’s 66th birthday with a trip to Key West!!! My first and only choice was the Best Western Hibiscus!! No Resort fee, Free Parking and Free breakfast and very reasonable rates. What’s not to like?? Our room even had a second bath sink, separate from the bathroom! You cannot beat the location!!! A block or so from Duval Street. Room was clean and everything was perfect! If you’re planning a trip to Key West you can’t go wrong by staying here!!!!

We chose this place based on price and reviews. We thought it was worth it. Great location with parking. Beds were comfortable. Nice pool. The hotel was a little bit dated, but that didn't impact our stay. Good breakfast and water and coffee were available all day. The front desk was very helpful. We would stay here again.

We have stayed at Hibiscus many times and do not know of an older guy at the front desk. We have enjoyed our visits many times and found staff very pleasant.

We ended up at this motel by accident and it was not a happy one. The door key only worked part of the time, the pillows were stiff, the bed mediocre, there’s no elevator, and it’s overpriced. Despite this, I didn’t want to pack up and move to a different hotel, so I inquired about getting another night. The older guy at the front desk that morning quoted me a price that was $124 over the price listed on the hotel’s website and claimed it was the only room he had left. I walked away and later, while passing through the small lobby, heard him tell someone on the phone that he had several rooms available after one. I checked the website, discovering that I could have booked another room immediately for far less than his quote. l did not. Dishonesty is the worst trait in customer service.

Researched forever trying to find the perfect place for our first trip to Key West and settled on the Best Western. Couldn't have been happier with our decision. From the moment we checked into the Hibiscus we were welcomed and felt right at home. Front desk staff was fun ,engaging and helpful. We had a suite and the room was clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable and a/c worked great, which was a huge plus because it was so hot and humid during our stay. The room offered a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The pool is large and clean with nice seating options. It was never crowded but a steady stream of guests during the day. Location is great. It's located on the southern end of Simonton and a quick uber to upper Duval. We never walked there because of the heat, but used alternate transportation. There is an air conditioned bus that runs constantly during the day and does the Duval Loop for $1 and the stop 2 blocks away. Another day we rented a cart to run around the island which was the best way to get around. Check with the front desk and they will set one up to be delivered to the hotel for you. Can't say enough great things about this hotel! Don't hesitate booking your stay in Key West here!

We called ahead to inform the hotel that we were traveling with four kids and were assured it wouldn’t be a problem. However, when we arrived around 1:30 AM after a 28-hour drive, we were met with extremely rude treatment. A staff member interrogated us about our late arrival, then told us we couldn’t stay at the hotel—without offering any alternative or even the option to purchase an additional room. We were forced to leave and look for another hotel in the middle of the night with exhausted kids. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional service.
