The Old Manor House Hotel

This old building dates back to the 1600's. I loved it. The inglenook fireplace in the bar is amazing. Staff are very friendly and eager to please. Perhaps not as polished or professional as you'd expect. But I was on holidays and not rushing to meet deadlines. My room was very warm due to the hot weather but two fans were available in my room. I just had to put up with their sound while going to sleep. The bed was not the softest nor the pillows. But I was comfortable. The Sunday Lunch is really good. And the number of diners attested to its popularity. Breakfast was a bit shambolic. No milk till 8am (breakfast opened at 7:30am), no cook on hand if you needed to eat a hot breakfast before then. The breakfast buffet was ok if you like cereal without milk. My hot breakfast of scrambled eggs and mushrooms was ok. The eggs were overcooked. The mushrooms looked very black but were not burnt..I couldn't figure out if there was an added flavour. And the accompanying toast was mediocre supermarket sliced pan. It's the building itself is the winner here. I hope some investment is put into staff training and the remains of the garden at the back. Then it would be a real treat from start to finish.

6 of us stayed here for 1 night. The hotel has great character, with solid oak beams. The beds were comfortable and the room spacious. There was an issue with 1 of the rooms but this was sorted promptly and efficiently. Breakfast was really good and service was prompt. Will look at staying here again if we’re in the area.

We booked this as it was a building steeping in history, and it was.. from the low wood beamed ceilings to the smaller than normal doors. The beds were very comfortable and the room had the very basic thats needed. Although a shelf in the bathroom that's not over the toilet would have made it easier but it's just a small thing. Also another very small thing was the windows were covered in condensation in the morning.. nothing major but if a damp catcher was used it would probably stop this from happening. The lady who checked us in was welcoming and friendly. Even the house keeping staff were happy to help and did so with a smile on their faces. We ate there the first evening and the food was very tasty, the male server was extremely smiley and helpful. (Sorry didn't get his name but he said it was his family who were running it). The breakfast was absolutely spot on!! Poached eggs were done to perfection!! Grace our server was the best. She was very helpful and nothing was too much for her, our satisfaction was all that mattered to her!! Had a very smiley and approachable manor. Well done young lady you are a credit to the place.
