Serena Khaplu Palace

I always had reservation about hotels in a restored ancient building. Fortunately, this room was beyond my expectation. The shower had hot water throughout while is toilet was modern. I liked the complimentary dried fruits and nuts platter which was a change from the usual I see in other hotels in other countries in the east. The buffet dinner was a good spread but they do not have buffer dinner every night. Breakfast was also excellent. I will recommend this hotel to any who is visiting this area.

An exceptional hotel! When the driver pulled up I thought what have I booked?!? The outside is deceptive and looks like it’s on the corner of a broken road but as soon as we entered it is a magical experience. The room was exquisite, the architecture is amazing. Just a stunning stunning hotel and fort, highly recommend to anyone visiting Khaplau!

Excellent stay at the this place. Beautiful landscape, historic building, view are amazing, staff will go out of the way to help you. Great service, room was excellent with modern amenities. Location is perfect.

Wonderful Location off the beaten track. This Hotel is a work in Progress. I had a chat with the General Manager who was in the restaurant travelling with his team inspecting various hotels under their brand. I asked him to take no offence and made certain suggestions about the dated power points, trip hazards in rooms etc. He told me his team had reviewed the points I had addressed, the day before and were implementing changes within a month. It is indeed a great challenge restoring heritage buildings and converting them to Hotels. Having stayed in other Serena hotels that have been restored in similar fashion I am sure in time they will get everything right. The food was good and the Staff were well trained and helpful. While in town take an early morning hike up to the Mosque on the Hill . It's not easy but you will be rewarded with spectacular views.

I am very happy to visit Sarina Khaplu Place. Its look like very beautiful I'm very exited. This Place was build in 700 year ago. This Place name was Khaplu Khar. Khaplu Raja lived in this place.I visit also chaqchan Maqks Its build in 900 year ago.

The white building in most photos is the main part of the fort, most of which has been restored as a historical site. Hotel staff can do an interesting guided tour. There are 2 suites at the top, and I thought the one described as the Queen’s room was better than the Kings. My room was in the stable block, very luxurious. I noticed the room next door had a private terrace. The stable block has a pretty little garden and there is a much larger garden with low tables and chairs next to the restaurant. One evening we had dinner on a private balcony overlooking the the ‘fort’ which was a nice treat. Food was good, especially the breakfast. I don’t think there are many other options for dining around there. Laundry was efficient. It didn’t have some of the polish of the Serena in Gilgit, but it’s lovely place to stay. Only caveat, flight of steep stairs/steps to the restaurant - not for anyone with mobility problems.
