Farovon Khiva Hotel

Lovely hotel , big room , friendly staff and breakfast delicious

I recently arrived at the Farovan Hotel in Khiva and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Despite its reputation as the most expensive hotel in the city, I found the customer service at the reception to be lacking. Pricing was inconsistent throughout the communication re. my stay, and whenever I tried to address it, no one took responsibility. This was quite frustrating, especially since I had expected a high standard of service. The room itself was also underwhelming. It felt cramped and crowded, which was surprising given the hotel's price point. For anyone considering a stay here, I highly recommend getting the price in writing and confirming it multiple times before arrival to avoid any misunderstandings. Ultimately, we decided to leave and moved to the Bankir Hotel instead, which offered a much more pleasant experience at half the cost. I’m disappointed to write this review, but I believe it’s important to provide honest feedback. If management is interested, they are welcome to contact me for additional details.

Very new hotel with superb rooms. The courtyard is very nicely decorated and it is a nice place to gave a drink. Avoid eating at the bar. The chicken shashlik was raw in the inside. The hotel is located outside the old town and hence a taxi is needed if you want to go to the old town. Breakfast is below (western) standard.

The Farovon was an excellent hotel choice for our 2 nights in Khiva as it offers really good, very clean facilities and is only a short distance to the tourist sights (20,000 som taxi arranged by reception). This meant that we could enjoy our sightseeing and then retreat to this very calm, relaxing hotel - we particularly enjoyed the courtyard which was a lovely spot to chill but there are also plenty of areas indoors. The Asian restaurant (Tokyo) was not open but we used the Italian restaurant both nights and both meals were good as were the drinks. Breakfast was also very good here with loads of choices as well as an omelette/egg station. The room was very clean, large and with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was also very good. We would definitely use again and recommend.

Impressive project in the middle of nowhere. Full of large tour groups. We had a fire alarm and no explanation from the staff. All the old ladies ( from the large tour groups) panicked in the hallways. Worse restaurant ever. After two hours of wait, we got rubbery uncooked meat in the Italian restaurant. Since there is nothing nearby, you are stuck in their only available restaurant and honestly was the worst food during our entire Uzbekistan trip. We even sent it back giving them a second chance but that did not help. Save your money stay somewhere else close to the main attractions, unless you really need those fancy hallways.

This is a fairly new hotel, and by the country's standards, it is impressive (though not quite the Hyatt). The building itself is big and spacious, and the rooms are very comfortable. However, the place lacked life or a "vibe." It had the sterility of hotels in the Persian Gulf where ostentatious display is met by empty corridors and vast airconditioned spaces.
