A beautiful place! Ask for a room facing the garden. We were in room 76. So nice! A bit cool for my older American sensibilities but warmer in the night and the bathroom was warm when I took my shower. A caution for those who have difficulty with high steps: the tub walls are at least knee high or a bit higher. There is a grab bar in the shower but it’s a reach. Shower is very nice. Breakfast was delicious and the room lovely. Quiet throughout the property. Recommend highly.

The location was superb for this town. Very near the castle in close to all restaurants. The hotel was very clean. The room's very spacious and quaint. All 4 rooms had showers of adequate size and bathtubs that we're quite huge. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Freda in the morning.

This was our first night’s stay after flying into Dublin. We rented a car and drove to Kilkenny straight away. Butler House is perfectly situated to take in the sights of historic Kilkenny. The Castle is just through the gate. It was nice to have the elevator to heft our luggage up two floors. Breakfast was excellent! The garden was gorgeous for an early morning walk. Beautiful historic building!

Lovely staff, especially Wendy, and a beautiful setting with a fabulous garden. The location is also brilliant, right in the heart of Kilkenny city. I was a bit disappointed with the room which was at the back of the hotel overlooking a pub and an unattractive SIPTU building. It was also furnished in a modern and very functional style which completely lacked charm and didn't match the beautiful old building. Not really what I expected, or the escape into the past these type of hotels usually offer. I would stay here again, but only if I got a room with a garden view.

Superior place to stay. The suite was exceptionally spacious and luxurious. It felt like a stay in a very special place. Staff was attentive. Private parking lot is a plus. I had a wonderful view of the castle! Breakfast was exceptional. Best in Ireland! Treat yourself and stay here.

We enjoyed two nights at the Butler House in a junior suite with a view of the castle. Everything was perfect! The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and spacious, and the location was ideal. An easy walk to the castle, to restaurants, and shopping. It was our favorite stay during our two week trip. We would definitely choose the Butler House for our next visit to Kilkenny.

Beautiful hotel with a sympathetic fin de siecle feel. Very helpful empathetic staff. Breakfast will keep you going for the day. A lift will bring you upstairs when the legs are exhausted from walking interesting Kilkenny city. The beds are super comfy

We absolute loved Butler House , the decor stunning, staff are very welcoming and our rooms were huge and extremely comfy. The Inn is at the top end of the Main Street and walking distance to everything. Bonus was the garden at the back which also leads to Kilkenny Castle

This place was stunning! Our room was huge, well-appointed and a had a beautiful view of the garden and castle. Our bathroom was up a set of stairs in our suite. It had a towel warming rack which was a great addition since the morning air was brisk. Our breakfast the next morning was delicious. My husband can't stop talking about his Begian Waffle.
