Decided to stay here as part of my Nakasendo hike. Nice, clean hotel. The dinner was amazing, and breakfast buffet is free for all guests. No private showers, but that's okay in Japan. It's quite a walk from the station however, about 10-15mins.

The room is huge for 2 person, the river view from the room was amazing. Breakfast was good, with a nice cosy manga section for us to read the mangas.

Excellent hôtel
We loved our 2 night stay in a spacious Japanese-style room with river views. The Inn has a nice vibe to it because it is filled with fellow hikers who share the common interest of enjoying the great outdoors. The onsite onsen was the best we experienced during our 18 days in Japan. We appreciated the free drinks vending machine provided and the dinners and breakfasts were plentiful and tasty. The washing/drying facilities were easy to operate. It is a good base for hiking trails with fabulous views. The township itself has such an interesting history being a postal town along the Nakasendo Trail. No need to pay to visit a monkey park, Japanese Macaque can be seen frequently in this area and were a pleasure to photograph.

hard to rate this place where i stayed for a night while walking the nakasendo trail pros: - huge tatami mat room with nice seating area by the window next to river - free drinks bar including fancy teas - onsen usage downstairs - lots of good shops and restaurants nearby (especially soma cafe!!) cons: - unfriendly disengaged staff - creepy claustrophobic shower room (enclosed plastic room that makes you feel like you are on a boat) - main floor of hotel feels like it's partially used for storage. very untidy cluttered vibe - strong smells in hallways - might feel far from train station for most ppl (i didn't mind)
