The Mere Golf Resort & Spa

I attended the spa for a facial and full body massage. I felt like I was on a conveyor belt, there was no personalisation to treatments. Although the therapists themselves were good, at £200 for the half day, I was disappointed that a 'full body massage' only included the back and legs and not arms, feet etc. I have been to many spas and this is the first time I have been told by a therapist that a full body massage is not actually that. More disappointingly, I complained to the hotel, and never heard back from them, even after following up - so much for a 5 star hotel and customer service! I will not be returning.

Had an amazing experience at thhe Mere spa. Came down for a festive getaway with my wife and had a fantastic treatment to a special shout out to Beth from the spa! Felt so much better after having the treatment. Facilities and service from all was super, would love to come back

Wow. I have driven past the entrance several times over a number of years and I was invited here to celebrate a birthday, it didn't disappoint. It is currently being renovated so you have to get into the car park a slightly different way. The whole experience is another level. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted and made to feel that they were expecting us as everything was well organised. They sat us in the bar area with glasses of water until we were ready and then gave us a little tour of the facilities. Brilliant. Treatments were very relaxing and worth the time. Afterwards, we had use of the spa area and it was perfect. There were not many people there so it was very enjoyable and we could use the areas that we wanted to visit at leisure.

Amazing massage from an excellent therapist, professional and her expertise was fantastic. I felt amazing afterwards and would visit again for the same treatment. Reception and pool team I spoke with were also lovely. The rest of the day was spoiled in parts by a group of women drinking and shrieking, dragging sun loungers around, hogging areas of the spa and generally behaving as it they were the only people in there and not giving two hoots about anyone else; could they talk non-stop any louder?!. Plus a few men on mobiles having loud conversations by the pool; it’s spa not an office! Whole place is being refurbished soon and I hope they ban mobiles and carefully monitor client behaviour, so everyone can enjoy the spa, because the clue is in the title, ‘spa’ a place of rest and relaxation.

The best overall spa day I've been on. I've doem my fair share, try to go to 4 a year and always a different one. But this was next level. All the facilities are amazing and well kept, the thermo experience rooms are luscious. The treatments were good, Amanda performed the best massage I've ever had on a spa day, which is definitely something worth writing about. I've always found that on spa days, the massages are always 'mediocre'. Lovely and relaxing, but never indepth and hit the spot right enough (probably because of the conveyor belt of people), but Amanda was very thorough. The afternoon tea was amazing too. I do enjoy afternoon tea, but there's always a sandwich that I'll turn my nose up at, or the cakes/petit fours on the 3rd course are always too sweet or too sickly. But every sandwich was gorgeous - even the ones I didn't think sounded nice/didn't think I liked , and every petit four was beautiful, delicate and light, not strong/sickly tasting. And Pam was a breath or fresh air who served us our afternoon tea, very friendly, lovely smile and aura about her. The cocktails were well made too, really good pornstar martini if anyone is a bit of one of them! Thank you for a lovely relaxing day mere!

We booked here for our usual pre Christmas chill day and we were not disappointed. (We have been a few times before) We regularly have spa days and The Mere is always one of the best. Staff are all really friendly and happy to help. The receptionist made sure the times were right for our afternoon tea and treatments and said to ask anytime about anything we were unsure of. We were given robes, towel and slippers. Young lad at the restaurant was full of smiles and wished us a lovely stay when he brought our coffee over. We had afternoon tea and that was lovely and the cakes had a Christmas theme - very nice touch. The facilities are superb, jacuzzi is lovely and warm and all the steam rooms and sauna were working and the whole area spotlessly clean. I had a full body massage by Karen, lovely lady, i really enjoyed it and have felt the benefits since coming home. A big thank you to her. Would we come back, absolutely and can’t wait for the hotel to reopen. If you are thinking about booking - just do it!
