As always it was an absolute delight to return to the Fortress which we do every 1-2 years because it is such a wonderful stay and everything is excellent. We love seeing the staff at the Fortress again, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Even on a rainy day, the Fortress and the atmosphere within the premises shine bright. Always recommend the Fortress for a tranquil, happy and memorable stay.

This was our third stay at The Fortress Resort, and once again, it exceeded our expectations. We stayed in an Ocean Loft Suite, which was absolutely huge, spanning two floors and featuring a spacious indoor plunge pool. The addition of a dedicated butler made the experience even more special. The room was incredibly spacious, well-lit, soundproofed, and equipped with all the amenities we needed. Although we encountered a minor issue with the electricals, the technical team promptly resolved it. The plunge pool was a highlight for us, with the water maintained slightly above ambient temperature—perfect for us and our child, who thoroughly enjoyed it too. As always, the food was excellent. We opted for breakfast at the resort and tried in-room dining, which, though slightly more expensive than on our previous visits (likely due to exchange rates), was still worth it for the quality and convenience. The service was impeccable, with attentive and helpful staff who made our visit truly memorable. This level of hospitality is what keeps bringing us back. The Fortress Resort remains the only place in Sri Lanka that we’ve visited multiple times—and it has consistently surpassed our expectations. We can’t wait to return for another exceptional stay!

We spent 6 nights at this excellent beach front hotel. The rooms are large and very well appointed. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Special mention to Sam in the restaurant, the pool attendants and the room attendants who created an amazing decoration on our bed for my wife’s birthday. The food is amazing although the portions are very large. We had an excellent cooking demonstration where we cooked, under supervision, 5 different curries. We then had these for dinner. Great fun. Happy to recommend this excellent hotel for a relaxing beach stay.

While looking for a place near Galle we booked this place since it’s an ocean front property. There are many things going for this property 1 . Superlative service by staff from check in to the room service to the staff at the White Restaurant . Always friendly and proactive 2. Food at the White restaurant is excellent- both Srilankan and Continental dishes 3. Large and luxurious ocean front rooms and a sprawling and clean pool Few things to be aware of 1. There are no good restaurants in the neighbourhood if you want to try a meal elsewhere. You will have to travel to the nearest town of Ahangama 2. Cabs and Tuk Tuks are pricey- Try Ashintha travels for better deals. Their coordinates are on Google 3. There’s nothing much to do apart from a Koggala lake tour and an evening to Galle fort. Also a day trip to Yala if one has the time. So come here if all you want to do is relax by the beach and watch stunning sundowners
