Cielo Boutique Hotel & Spa Samui

My first ever 1-star review. Fact: Clean, small hotel with small rooms - I would not recommend for families, not kids friendly. Water supply issues, cockroaches in the rooms daily, and narrow beachfront. Stayed in many hotels in Samui - please go somewhere else.

Many aspects good, especially the amazing staff, but some areas of concern. Main concern being an apparent very lacadasical approach to dietary needs. Having given 6 weeks notice of the need for gluten free food, no one seemed to understand what gluten was and what needed to be avoided. The owner asked if could eat rice. Every day we reminded staff, but still bread with gluten was given to my husband every day. Each meal we asked if items were gluten free, but staff didn’t seem to know and had a group discussion. When we mentioned soy sauce no one seemed to realise that had to be avoided. This really needs to be taken seriously. The only place in our travels around Thailand where this was the case, plus no gluten free alternative to bread offered. Very high on design but not sure on the quality. Sea view villa could just see the sea through buildings and vegetation. Comfy beds and good shower, but water from taps smelt unpleasant and this stopped me from filling the bath. Plenty of bottled water offered to drink. Upstairs good mix of fan and aircon. Downstairs no air con, a toilet with no washbasin and tea making facilities but no bin. Stone steps - open side and no rail. Other food in restraunt good and breakfasts excellent. Yoga and Pilates offered - mainly good instruction but yoga studio needs A/c - it’s a room with a v large window along one side which gets hot in the sun. Running fans helps but they are rather noisy. Most of the time heat ok but had to leave one class as too hot. Owner appeared to have a large party of personal friends she was looking after the week we were there - one evening we had to wait 50 minutes for our food as most of staff was attending that group and chef was chatting with members of the party. Food otherwise mainly good and good service. 15 minute walk to fisherman’s village. Would not want to walk back from there on my own and especially long shared unlit drive to oseveral other properties. Also small safe in room but not attached to anything so could just walk away with it. The owner was very defensive when mentioned something adverse. I hope she will listen to these comments - our other reviews hotels on our trip all 5 star.

Small complex on the beach with several options for room sizes. We stayed in a 2-bed with private pool and an outside kitchen area, all of which were well maintained with everything you need. The AC in bedrooms were a blessing. The rooms were cleaned daily and fresh towels (and beach towels) provided. The pool area and restaurant overlook the beach. The breakfast was excellent and the hotel often has theme nights. The spa was used and several treatments taken. All of the above is a standard expected for a hotel of this class, however what pushes this hotel above and beyond is undoubtedly the staff, who have to be the most pleasant I’ve ever come across on my travels. Always smiling, always polite and very helpful with a birthday celebration whilst we were there. I would highly recommend and would definitely return.

A tranquil gem of a hotel! We stayed in the 3 bedroom family villa Lucas and absolutely LOVED it! It’s more like an open-air mini complex than a hotel room, with an open air (covered) kitchen diner, private pool in the middle & 3 bedrooms each with their own bathroom & brilliant air con & fans. The hotel staff were extremely friendly & very accommodating- when we booked a day trip with an early start, they arranged for a breakfast box to be delivered the evening before and they arranged a private island tour for us. The restaurant is fantastic- breakfast, lunch & dinner all top quality. You can walk into Fisherman’s village easily- either along the beach or road in about 10-15 mins. Look out for happy hour at the bar- they have some great offers on!

Fantastic resort just a few steps from fisherman’s village. Modern minimalistic spacious designed rooms and a lovely view of the ocean. You should book a suite it’s totally worth it. Nice little restaurant and a location right in the beachfront. The service from the staff is excellent in every way and the always are just a few steps away with their discreet attention of your needs. If I should wish for something different it would have been a little better selection of the a la carte breakfast. I really miss some slices of ham and cheese and a warm Thai selection. And please - in a hotel like this do not limit the amount of orange juice to one glass. It is a quite expensive stay so it just feels a bit…. If going back to bophut I will definitely go back and they gets my strongly recommendations. A wonderdul Hotel with excellent staff and great service! Nice spacious suites, luxurious and clean. The guests relation manager provides service in world class, naturally and genuine service. He made our stay really comfortable in the most professional way. We have stayed here for 5 days and I love to come back at some point. Highly recommended!
