MRS Chryssana Beach Hotel

We loved it so much last year, we came back again. The manager, Michalis, the afternoon receptionist, Emmanuel, and our cleaner, Vana, were still here. There were some new faces at the pool bar, who also double up as lifeguards and as breakfast/dinner staff, Anastasia, Manos, and Amir. All the staff are so helpful, thank you for looking after us so well. For me, the pool area is perfect. I have mobility issues. It has cushioned sofas under a shaded area, wooden loungers with cushions (that I can get up from), and easy stepped access into the pool with a handrail. We booked a package through jet 2, but I emailed the hotel in advance to ask for a ground floor room, which they were able to give us. As there is no night porter and reception and the bar closed at 11pm, and we were arriving after 1am, we also asked for some drinks to be left in our room, which they did. Breakfast is really good with a wide selection of hot and cold options, a very tempting selection of cakes and pastries, thick yoghurt, and honey and fruits. The evening meal is served buffet style like breakfast, with several selections each day, I can recommend the chicken wings, moussaka, and veal stew. For me the ambience in the dining area at night could be improved by providing more atmospheric lighting e.g. fairy lights and candles. I would also prefer to have an a la carte menu, as they do at the pool bar in the afternoon. We had good meals several times at Sto Skouteli and on the front in Kolymvari at En Elladi and Peinakothiki. Even though the hotel was almost full, it was still very peaceful and relaxing. We spent our time by the pool, but a lot of people hire cars, go out walking, or take the bus into Chania. We met some lovely people again this year. Thanks to Babs, Dusty, Rod and Karen for some fun times.

Stayed with friends for 2 nights in two twin rooms with adjoining door. Lovely bathroom with large walk in shower. Good wardrobe space and a safe. Bedside tables and a dressing table with mirror plus hairdryer. Fridge in room but no facilities to prepare food you cN ask for a kettle though. Nicelybdecorated and comfortable beds with good linen. Only downside was having a sink in the bedroom not in the bathroom. Totally impractical. When you use tge toilet it's usual to wash your hands notbl have to leave the bathroom to wash them in the bedroom. Also it disturbs anyone who's sharing the room. Cannot understand who thought that was a good idea. The rooms had clearly been refurbished quite recently so I think someone must have gone crazy thinking it was design feature. Nice balcony. Very large deep pool with kids pool also quite large. But they don't open the pool until 10.30 or later. Not good if you like a swim before breakfast. Hotel situated right by the sea but its a pebbly beach with no sun loungers so beach shoes and a mat are needed. It's a good 15 to 20 minute walk to kolymbari beach and the beach side restaurants. Coming back in the dark requires a torch as the way isn't very well lit. We had breakfast included and it was a buffet of hot and cold food, plenty to choose from all very good. We also ate at lunchtime in the pool cafe/bar the portions were very large we could easily have shared a snack between two of us. We had decent sized balcony but no clothes dryer to hang your wet towels etc on. We enjoyed our stay and would go there again as we like kolymbari having been there many times.

Just returned from 11 nights at the Mrs Chrysanna beach hotel and wish we were going straight back. This was a really relaxing hotel which we would definitely return to. All staff at the hotel were great, very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and had everything we needed, there is no kettle in the room so take a travel kettle if you need one. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. Great service from the cleaning staff, really appreciated. Breakfast was great, always plenty of choice and something for everyone, always a friendly welcome from staff at breakfast. The pool areas is fantastic, gardens are very pleasant and well maintained. This was probably the most relaxing pool area we have had on holiday for a very long time. Pool bar was good value for money, really nice lunch and a good menu. I would definitely return here in the future.

We arrived at Mrs Chryssana Beach Hotel after midnight as our plane was delayed to find reception all locked up, in darkness and nobody about, our room key was in a envelope taped to the reception door, with just my name on the envelope and the room number, no arrow to send us in the right direction. I apologise to our fellow guests who had to listen to our cases rolling along the floor until we found our room. This is not on there should be someone to greet you as they know you are coming and the next morning i had to ask everything about our stay even after i has informed the girl on reception that we arrived the night before and there was no one to greet us. If you want to know anything ask the older man who is on reception in the evening, he is very helpful and will help you with buses and local knowledge and when they say bus station on the road near the supermarket, they mean a request bus stop, not a bus station as we know it in the UK, but there is a bus station at the end of your journey to Chania pronounced Hania. The hotel used to be family owned, but is now part of a company which owns a small group of hotels and used to be Adults only, but since the 2024 season children are allowed. There is not much for the children to do at the hotel as they only have the children's pool to play in and there is no child menu at meals times. The hotel is in a quiet area with no evening entertainment only the music player at the pool bar and a bit of background music in the restaurant. Most of the restaurants / taverns in the area don't really cater for just going in for a drink, but you can. If you want more livelier places you can catch the bus to the other towns and the buses don't stop till after 1.00 am. Be carful of the old couple who have the restaurant on the main road when you turn left and left out of the hotel to get to the main road, they wave at you to come in, but it's always deserted and if you go in they give you a menu without prices on then give you an extortionate bill at the end. We questioned if we were in the correct room on our first contact with reception as we had booked a elegant room with sea view and balcony, but got a room with a side sea view and balcony, it turns out classic doubles and elegant rooms are the same size and same view, the difference is that the classic doubles are further back from the sea. The family and friends rooms are the closes to the sea and the ones with a proper sea view are the end ones on each side and the ones at the back above the restaurant and i am lead to believe that they are elegant rooms. The reception area requires celling fans and so does the restaurant or some other means of getting the temperature down. the rooms are ok, need more wardrobe space and clothes hangers and draws, the bathroom needs a extractor fan to vent the steam when you have a shower as it's builds up and hangs down from the ceiling. I booked Mrs Chryssana Beach Hotel as I needed to recharge my batteries and get away from it all. Mission accomplished! From the warm welcome the moment I arrived, the team at Mrs Chryssana looked after me the whole time - nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Michalis, Manilos, Manos , Maria and all the rest of the staff. You are what makes this hotel so special. The pool is amazing, The food is authentic Greek food and tastes wonderful. Plenty of choice and excellent quality. I went early season and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. (No fighting for sun beds.) It’s a small hotel and it was nice that the guests chatted to each other unlike larger hotels. Just a short walk up the road you can get local buses into Chania, Agia Marina, and Maleme at 3.20 euros. Great value. Livelier resorts with a variety of restaurants, shops and sandy beaches. There I something for everyone in Crete and Mrs Chryssana makes a great base to explore this beautiful island. Thank you team Chryssana for a great holiday.

This our 2nd visit to Chryssana hotel. The hotel is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Also a good base if you want to explore and hire a car. We used the good bus service to get to Chania and surrounding areas. The bus stop is 3 minute walk from the hotel. Kolymbari is a short walk away and has a port and good restaurants. We went on a boat trip from the port. We stayed bed and breakfast. The breakfast each morning is an excellent variety. Greek yoghurt with honey is amazing. The staff work really hard here to keep everyone happy. The rooms are nice and cleaned to a high standard. Bathrooms are a good size and the shower is good. The pool is lovely and a good size. You can sit by the pool or in the garden area. There are always plenty of sun-beds available. The pool bar serve drinks and lunch. We have eaten here and is very good. Your holiday is what you make it, I don’t understand the bad reviews if you want 5 star luxury then book that. I know we will definitely return again. We have a lovely relaxing time here.
