Marko Polo Hotel by Aminess

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience in this hotel from start to finish. The receptionist we dealt with was extremely rude and the manager ineffective. The room we were allocated was in a separate building to the hotel which was totally rundown and shabby and obviously had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The shower flooded the bathroom and, at one stage, there was no running water. We requested another room immediately but were told there was no availability but that we would be allocated a room the following day. By noon the following day we were still being told there was no availability so we were then left with no choice but to change accommodation. As we were leaving we were told another room had been found but it was far too late by that stage and the receptionist was still arguing with us as we checked out. Other staff at Reception were perfectly pleasant but we just were unlucky with our lady I guess. Avoid this hotel particularly if you are allocated a room away from the main building.

We arrived early for check in ...as the receptionist said without looking up....so we left our cases & returned later to a change of personnel & a much warmer greeting.The hotel is in a commanding position on a rise above the ferry port area.We are fit middle aged , but the final gradient was a bit of a slog around to the main entrance with our luggage: I think there is a lower level entrance which we spotted later.The hotel has very bright & spacious public areas , including a most attractive pool terrace. Our room was comfortable, a little dated maybe , very clean though , same with the bathroom, which seemed small( probably because the 2 I'd used immediately before Marco Polo were very big ) , with a shower position which was difficult to prevent floor spraying . We were on half board terms for 2 nights & the buffet restaurant for breakfast & dinner was first rate : super staff.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel : good value base in this delightful city which we were sad to leave.

I stayed here in June, great location and great staff. Food was plentiful and fresh, lots of choices and good quality. Special thanks to Dragan and Nick as well as manager Marina who were incredibly helpful. I would recommend this hotel and location to anyone wishing to visit Korcula island. Wonderful views from the pool area. Room was comfortable, I did not have a balcony or view but was travelling solo. This wasn’t a problem as the views from the pool area more than made up for this. I will most certainly return with my family next time.

Nicest hotel stuff ever. Thanks to them our vacation was perfect. Hello to Nick, boss Marina & Dušan. Room was big, bed cosy, AC very good and quiet. Food was ok, not so perfect but ok. Nice hosts make our every wish come true..beach is close and the old city too.

We spent a week at this lovely hotel. The reception, dining room, and communal seating areas were all in immaculate condition with no damage to anything that we could see. The staff were exemplary, so friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast was really good and the breads were always fresh and tasty. The only disappointment for us was that there was no thick yoghurt, only thin and watery. The cold drinks machine was switched off at the evening meal, and that was a shame. Evening meals were very varied, pasta, fish, meat, and salads, to name a few. The chef and staff wanted to please as many tastes as possible. The room we had was in very good condition, the bed was very comfortable and there was always a good supply of hot water. We enjoyed our time around the pool, no problem finding loungers and parasols, no loud music, just quiet background stuff. We booked through Secret Escapes, transfers from Dubrovnik to the hotel. Our flight was delayed, so it was a 10pm arrival. The drive to Korcula is a long way. We finally got to the hotel at 2AM. Return transfer was much better because the ferry was running, and the vehicle was more comfortable, and it was daylight, too.

More like a 3 star hotel. Only reason it’s 4 star is because of outdoor and indoor pools. Rooms are old, small and bathroom tiny and old. Some rooms there is no space to open your suitcase. Photos are exaggerated. We had a group of women on an organised tour and stayed there 2 nights and no one got pool view or any decent view. We were on level 1 and 2. A stupid card system for pool towels as well. Food in the restaurant is also very average! Decor old fashioned. More like a 70’s - 80’s dining room. Would not recommend or return there. But Korcula island is lovely and I would return but to a different hotel… save yourself a disappointment.
