Was recommended the Argiri by a friend who had stayed previously. When I read the reviews I was extremely impressed and booked a 2 bedroomed room. Upon arrival it didn't appear that the room had been properly cleaned - there was an odd smell, grease marks up the bathroom door, and streaks down the shower walls. The tap was very grimy, and a couple of the door handles were falling apart. Also the rooms seemed smaller than the photos, but were decorated nicely. Unfortunately during our stay the room was not cleaned to a standard you would expect. The sheets were not changed at all, and the toilet and sink were not properly cleaned. However, the communal areas of the hotel were kept clean and tidy. The hotel is well located (only a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants etc.) but a little tricky for those with a walker (like my mom) as there are no pavements and the road is very bumpy. Breakfast was a little disappointing in terms of drinks offerings, the coffee machine only provided black coffee or hot water, no other types of hot drink. There was also only 1 machine which led to long waits. The breakfast area itself was always quite chaotic of a morning, I'm not sure how it would fare in peak season. Food offering was decent, and the omelettes and greek yoghurt were lovely. Unfortunately on day 5 there was a power cut meaning a very limited breakfast offering. I appreciate this is not the hotels fault but there was no apology or explanation. On day 6 the fire alarm went off at 7am, once again no apology or explanation. On both occasions the lifts were out of order which meant my mom having to walk down a flight of stairs with great difficulty. We did state upon check in that we would only be able to accept a first floor room if the lifts were in order, and we did submit our disabled room request very early on. The lunch menu at the hotel was great, and good value. We ate there most days. The pool area was fine, and clean, but there were no activities during the day, e.g. watersports, or quiz, or bingo. Which made for quite a long day. The TVs in the rooms only have a couple of English channels, which was unfortunate as there was no entertainment in the hotel of an evening and we couldn't travel far due to my mom's mobility. The bar area of an evening was very quiet with only sports being shown on the big screens. Drinks in the hotel bar are probably on par with what you would pay in Kardamena town. Ta Adelfia down the street from the hotel does lovely food at a great price. We also enjoyed Melissa On The Beach which is just at the beginning of the shops and restaurant strip. Would I return to this hotel again? Probably not. I was expecting to be bowled over after reading previous reviews but unfortunately left feeling a bit disappointed. The staff were friendly but at a level that would normally be expected at a hotel.
