Sovereign Beach Hotel

Honest review - I am on day three of my holiday here thought I would write this to warn others other. This is not a four star hotel 2/3 at most things that are good : it is clean. Things that are not up to standard : needs to be updated very tired, food selection and drink selection is very poor for what should be a four star. If you want anything that is actually nice (ie nice wine and large water) you have to pay extra, general attitude of the staff is poor. It boasts that food, drink and staff all good - this is really not the case, You have to pay extra to use the gym. I would not have come here if I had known the conditions and how much is not included. very poor. The glasses are cheap plastic (around pool know they have to be plastic) but they are so not what you would expect. I have nothing good to say other than it is not dirty. I would never come back and a complete waste of money and my holiday. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL. I am literally going to the shops and buying food as the food is so poor.

We have just returned from 11 nights at the Sovereign Beach Hotel, and wished we could have stayed longer. I only have 2 issues which does not impact my 5* rating. First issue is the environmental fee, which is based on Government decision is for a 5* hotel, but the hotel is actually 4*. This I feel is unfair to the tourist, and adds 15 Euro per night to your bill. The hotel requests this is paid in cash. I dont know the protocol for this, but was a shock at 2am and luckily we had the money. The 2nd issue is the WiFi. Its very hit and miss around the complex and the standard 5g is poor and keeps switching from Zone A to B which is Turkey and chargeable. I advise that you set your spending limit to Zero to prevent any shock mobile data bill. So, apart from the above, why the 5*? The hotel itself does meet 4*. We arrived at 2am, checked in quickly and offered a cold buffet and drinks. As above, we had to pay the tourist tax on arrival, it has to be paid in cash. There is a cash machine in reception if cash is needed. As of July 2025 its 15 Euro per room per night. While we knew about it, not many do. Our room was on the ground floor as requested, but was only set up for 2, not 3 people. This was rectified immediately and the following day received an appology and a bottle of wine!. The room itself (124) looked out onto the pool area. There are a couple of trees that slightly block the view, but not an issue as it provides a bit more shade. The room is not that big, but enough for 3. The bathroom has a walk in shower. there is no side partition, so if you use the rain shower it goes everywhere. There is an additional shower head that covers average height, so the shower is fully functional. Aircon is really good, just set it for auto and 22 degrees. There is a safe in the wardrobe. Its free to use and ours was electronic. Some rooms have a key safe, there is a deposit, but no charge. Tea/Coffee is provided to the room and a 2ltr bottle of water is supplied daily. Rooms are cleaned daily, bed sheets replaced several times and towels replaced if they are on the floor in the shower area. TV for UK visitors is rubbish, only 2 news channels. While we had a pool view room, there are also inland view rooms as well as a shared plunge pool section and some bungelows have private pools. All inclusive food runs all day with various times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks start at 10am at the pool bar with cakes and crepes. The Taverna near the beach serves hot snacks from 12.15 until 5pm, the pool bar is open until 6pm, main bar is open from 6pm until 1am, but is chargeable from midnight. The food itself was really good. Breakfast ranges from full English to fruit, smoothies, waffles, continental, omelets, etc. There is a lot of fresh cooking as well. Coffee machines offer hot drinks and hot water for tea as well as cold drinks (water, fizzy). Breakfast is from 7am until 10.15am Lunch starts at 12.15 until 2.15 in the main restaurant and the

I’ll be honest yet fair. This hotel was lower priced than most in Kardemena area so please bear in mind you are getting value for money. Hotel is clean but there are dated areas. We had a swim up room in main hotel. Absolutely amazing to open the doors to a newly built patio and clear pool. Thick sun beds and more sun beds around the pool for when the sun moves. There was a smell in the bathroom, but didn’t bother us. All paper must go into bins instead of the toilet and I doubt everyone does this so there’s bound to be drain issues. The staff are so helpful, they ordered taxis, were friendly and the cleaners are worth their weight in gold. Pool towels provided with deposit. Safe is free. Food - 6 of us could have gone round the restaurant 3 times and got different varieties. Freshly cooked, theme nights so never got boring. Pizzas are brilliant. Taverna serves gyros, burgers etc, also good. Bailey’s & Nutella pancakes at the pool bar were so good. Lots of local spirits & cocktails to choose from. Pina colada a fave. Entertainment wasn’t for us in our 50’s but the two guys & girls worked their socks off to keep everyone happy, and everyone certainly looked happy round the theatre. Town is around 20-25 mins walk away which is why we picked this hotel as like to venture out. Taxis should be ordered way in advance as not very reliable. The beach is minutes away from main hotel, a little steep in places. The hotel gardens are immaculate and pretty. The negatives - not necessarily negative but where I would have liked more, but these additional things would cost the hotel more meaning the holiday price increases. *Air con didn’t seem to be on in the lobby/bar area. Comfy sofas were great but way too hot to sit inside. Dining room had air con but with doors open it wasn’t cool enough. Our room air con didn’t seem cold enough, I’m usually freezing when it’s on. *Service - no service to your sunbed or table after dinner. You need to go to the bar. Dinner is self serve taps. Glass collectors were present of course but we usually love a chat and to tip our waiter but there weren’t any. *Bars - there’s 3. Taverna, pool and after 6pm just the hotel bar. So each night you sit on the same terrace on the same hard chairs. I’d love the taverna to be open later for an after dinner sea view drink. There are a few rattan sofas on terrace but the cushions are flat and uncomfortable. Cabanas on the grass would be a lovely option. *Restaurant - just the one after 7pm. I would have liked al la carte or at least somewhere else to sit and eat rather than 3 meals a day in the same area. *Plastic cups - 6 of us must have got through maybe 50-100 in a week. Plus plastic straws. I felt so bad I used the same cup for water. Plastic reusable cups are more sustainable. But this requires collection and extra washing up costs. I felt they have put all their profit into quality food and large drinks which is fair enough and for that I can’t complain. I got value for

We had a great room with a swim up pool. The dining staff were excellent and took great care in explaining options to cater for my wife's food allergy.

Just returned from an amazing week at the Sovereign Beach Hotel. We were so happy with everything, all rooms were clean and tidy. We had a swim up room which was amazing. Alexandra was so helpful on reception and morning was too much trouble, the same with Kosta. Just a small walk down to the beach then a 10 min walk into Kardamena. Was lovely. Sam from the bar worked so hard and always had a smile on his face. He was so friendly and is a credit to the hotel. Chico from the entertainment team again was friendly and got everyone up and involved. All the teams were great. I would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friend and will definitely book again xxx Thank you for an amazing experience xx

best hotel, best place on the kos, we love this places, in this hotel is very good food and staffs, thera are animation programs and night showtime, pool is good, sea is very very very clear, hotel room is clear, and we were here for 4 time and we will come back next year
